Brilliant Family Holiday

Oct 2019 | Seasider525
We travelled as a family of 7. I requested that the 3 rooms booked, would be next to each other & as close to the hotel facilities as possible, We were allocated 103, 104 & 105. These were the closest blocks of bungalows with garden views, only being 300 metres away from the facilities. The only issue with the holiday is the size of the rooms. The bungalows have 2 rooms, a bedroom & a shower room with wc. The rooms themselves were very clean, with bedding & towels changed daily. There was no air conditioning, but did have a ceiling fan. No fridge & no tea making facilities. The food was excellent & a very good variety. Only problem here was the 30 odd steps up to the restaurant which kept us all fit. The pool was very clean with a lifeguard on duty every day. The entertainment was very good, with lots of different competitions during the day. Evenings had the usual mini disco with some sort of show afterwards. The animation team worked hard & were very popular. The small sandy beach close to the hotel complex had a nice beach bar. But all drinks had to be paid for there. But it did have Koppaberg cider ! Went to the town a couple of times to watch the footy & eat out, going by taxi. The cliff top walk is a bit dicey. Also, a trip to Cala D'or was well worth doing. Only 12 Euros in a cab. Lots of shops, restaurants & bars. The bar called Upstairs Open Air Bar was excellent, with views over the streets. We had an excellent time here & would recommend the Tropicana to anyone.

More like 1 star.

Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Given a small map showing us where our room was. Luckily we only had to walk 300 metres. Some people were almost 1/2 mile away from reception. There is a mini bus to transport people around the site. The rooms are all up stairs. If you struggle with walking or climbing stairs don’t book this place. The room was very basic, a ceiling fan, a shower that worked sometimes. The bed was huge, probably because it felt like the floor of an articulated truck, it was so hard. The food was brilliant, always plenty and always a good selection. The animation team were very friendly and worked very hard to get people involved the activities. This place reminded me of Butlins/Pontins, no hotel, to speak of but blocks of rooms. As an All Inclusive you would of thought that you were saving money, not here! Table tennis, pool, crazy golf all extra. The beach bar is not free and it cost 14euros for a sun lounger with parasol per day. The pool is lovely with loungers. .The nearest shops, pubs and resturants are approx. 1 1/2 mile away, lovely walk along the cliff tops but only once you have negotiated the rugged cliff top leading away from the beach. Usual stuff down there, English bars, plenty of gift shops. All in all you get what you pay for, you pay for drinking water in your room, you pay to sit on the beach, you pay to play some games. You will get plenty of exercise and you will eat and drink plenty. The rooms are very dated, bit like Maplins.

Fab holiday!

We just got back from a week away and had a great time! Rooms were clean and maintained every day with fresh towels etc, food was always fresh and big selection, pool and bar area was always clean and the animation team were always around with different activities (if you wanted to take part). All the staff were super friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend and re visit the hotel after they have completed their refurbishment as we got engaged whilst we were there so it has become a special place.
