Protur Turo Pins is in a village area just outside Cala Ratjada, a resort on the north eastern corner of the island of Majorca, one of the Spanish Balearic islands. The hotel is in a quiet area with its own gardens and has an outdoor pool and sun terrace. There's also an indoor heated pool and a whirlpool, as well as a Turkish bath and sauna, and you can enjoy relaxing in the spa or working out at the gym. Fitness classes, massages, and beauty and wellness treatments are all available. The hotel provides entertainment six times a week, including music and flamenco dancing. The town of Cala Ratjada is within walking distance and has a variety of restaurants and bars. On Saturdays there's a traditional street market at the Place del Pins, with local crafts and produce for sale, and you'll also find plenty of shops around the port area. From the centre of town you can catch a bus to the Cuevas d'Arta, a famous cave complex high up in the cliffs with views over the sea. Cala Ratjada is the nearest point to the neighbouring island of Menorca and you can take day trips by ferry to the capital, Ciutadella.
The hotel is 1km from the centre of Cala Ratjada. The nearest beach is the sandy Playa Cala Agulla, also 1km away. It's one of the quieter beaches in the area, along with Cala Guya and Cala Mesquida. You can also find plenty of smaller coves all the way along the north eastern coastline. The whole area is a protected bird sanctuary with plenty of wildlife living in the pine trees that provide natural shade to the beaches. There are four golf courses in the surrounding area. For a day trip, you could head inland to visit the famous Thursday leather goods market at Inca.
Protur TurÛ Pins Aparthotel has a buffet restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, offering a varied menu and occasional theme nights. There's a bar and a pool bar that serve drinks from morning until late in the evening, and the hotel has a pool waiter service.
The hotel has a children's pool and a kids' club with activities including face painting and sports. There is kids' entertainment seven times a week.
Rooms have a balcony or terrace, air conditioning and a fridge. There's Wi-Fi and a flatscreen TV, bathrobes and slippers are provided and there's a pillow menu.

A great stay in August
I think Tanja in the Kids Club was great. She brought a lot of energy into everything she did even though she had a lot of kids to look after. I think maybe more money could be invested here to give her more to work with. The food was excellent and great choice. The staff were very good when you asked them. The restaurant manager wasn't as helpful or accommodating but at least the staff were. The room cleaning was a bit underwhelming, sometimes room was cleaned at 5pm and not very well but that is not so important to me. The room itself is big. It could do with a bit of a refurbishment but was clean and welcoming. The pool was great and the size of the hotel meant it was never too crowded. The staff at reception were always very helpful. There were also some great beaches nearby within walking distance and the town itself is also only 10 minutes away. It's a lovely hotel and we will be back!
Lovely family holiday
We stayed at the protur for 10 nights in August and loved our stay. We booked a late deal and it was our first time visiting the area and hotel. Due to a delay with our flight and transfer we arrived very tired at 4am but we were greeted with a warm welcome and offered food (which we declined in favour of sleep! but a nice gesture). The room was large and we were lucky enough to be given a room with a jacuzzi bath which was a great extra! In some areas the room needed a little TLC, the bed headboard was peeling and the bath panel didn’t fit quite right, but these were only very very minor details and did not impact on our stay. As mentioned in previous reviews the beds are a little hard but not that bad and it’s personal preference. The rooms and hotel were spotless and the cleaning staff did a wonderful job. The hotel grounds were lovely, green and well maintained. It felt nice and private with trees surrounding the complex. My 5 year old loved the pool and we spent a lot of time there, it’s a good sized pool and we never had any issues getting sun loungers despite it being peak season and the hotel being full. There is also a shallow pool with a small slide for younger children. Initially most of the guests were German with a few other nationalities but later in the week there was more of a spread of different nationalities including a number of English families. We stayed half board and breakfast and dinner was fantastic! Good choice of food and surroundings and the staff were very attentive. Special mention to the head chef Jason who we spent some time talking to, he is very personable, attentive and a credit to the hotel. The bar area by the pool is nice if you choose to order lunch or drinks, we only did this a couple of times due to being full from breakfast! The area has everything you need, shopping, harbour, restaurants and bars. It largely caters for German clientele but this was not a problem for us. The beaches… amazing! They are a little bit of a walk but manageable even with a 5 year old in tow and we enjoyed it. We went in peak season so the beaches were busy but beautiful with crystal clear water. In the evening we mostly stayed at the hotel for drinks and entertainment. We didn’t use the kids club but my son liked the kids disco and the lady who ran this completely on her own was great with the children. The entertainment was mixed but the acrobat/entertainer on the Sunday was fantastic, as was the flamenco dancers and magician on the Mondays. Always a nice atmosphere and we met some lovely families during our stay. We don’t normally tend to go to the same places every year but we loved this hotel and area so we intend on returning! We hope to hire a car next time so we can skip the 2 hour transfer from the airport plus it gives us the ability to explore the area a bit more. If you are looking for a relaxing family holiday in Majorca I would definitely recommend!
COCKROACHES RUNNING AROUND ROOM - NIGHTMARE!!!!!!!
Checked into Protur Turo Pins in Ratjada on 19th July 2022 for two nights. We booked a 2 bedroom Superior suite. On the first night we returned to find three cockroaches running around the room. There may have been more but we were absolutely horrified and it was so distressing so didn't want to spend any longer in the room looking for them! They were really big and running around so quickly and it was really scary. This was not the ending to the family birthday we had hoped for and we had a child in our party so they were really upset and terrified. We immediately called Reception and thankfully, they moved us to another room, which we appreciated. It was a lower class of suite but we didn't care as we wanted to be as far away from the cockroaches as possible. The next day we received a telephone call from Reception offering to move us to another suite at the same level as the one we booked. We declined as that would be 3 rooms in less than 24 hours! We had also spent most of the previous night checking the new room and going through our bags and clothing several times in case there were any others. We were exhausted as we didn't sleep at all and it really ruined our entire stay. We were also only there for two nights so just decided to put up with it but we never actually got to stay in the level of room we paid for unfortunately. We didn't hear from the Manager at all which we thought was pretty poor customer relations. We were also very uneasy as we were constantly checking for other cockroaches in the room, restaurant, bar, pool etc and just couldn't relax at all. We also noticed a very, very, large number of ants at the front of the hotel which, combined with our cockroach ordeal, did suggest the pest control needed more attention. Upon checking out, the Receptionist gave us the impression that this was not a surprise to them but that was just the perception we had. We would NEVER stay in this hotel or chain again and would NOT RECOMMEND Protur Turo Pins on the basis of our experience. We have travelled extensively, internationally, and in varied levels of hotel and never had this most unpleasant and appalling experience. It is completely unacceptable in our opinion.
