Zafiro Ca'n Picafort

Zafiro Ca'n Picafort is a family-friendly hotel on the western coast of Majorca, Spain. It's a short walk to the beach, which stretches all the way north up the coast to the port town of Alcudia. Zafiro Ca'n Picafort has two outdoor swimming pools in an area lined with palm trees, and three children's pools, one of which has a pirate ship set in the middle. There are also slides and other water activities to keep kids entertained. If you want to swim in the shade, there's an indoor pool with a whirlpool. There's also a sauna, and you can book a massage. The hotel has a gym if you fancy a workout. There are several activities to try, including pool and mini golf. The hotel puts on family entertainment which usually includes shows. The hotel is steps away from the centre of Can Picafort, with a number of shops and supermarkets selling holiday essentials and souvenirs. The beach area is lined with bars, restaurants and clubs, so you can dine out with an ocean view or dance the night away.

The beach is 800m from Zafiro Can Picafort and is one of the main attractions of the town. The resort centre is 500m away. The tourist town of Alcudia is at the opposite end of the long beach to the north, within driving distance of the hotel. It's home to a number of attractions, including a golf course and water park. Alcudia also retains much of its old charm, with cobblestoned streets and several buildings that recall its history dating back to medieval times. There are several well-preserved buildings from the Roman era, including the remains of the city Pollentia, which has a solid rock amphitheatre.

Zafiro Can Picafort has a buffet restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There's also an a la carte restaurant and a cafe serving sandwiches and cookies. You can enjoy a range of refreshing drinks at the hotel's two bars, one of which is by the pool.

The hotel has a kids' club for children aged 4 to 12, and an outdoor playground set in a garden with an adventure climbing frame and slides.

The hotel has a separate pool area for children with both pirate ship and water slides.

The rooms each have a balcony or terrace to relax on. They come with air conditioning, a fridge, satellite TV and Wi-Fi.

Winding down for the season.

I feel mean, because I totally understand why the areas that I felt a little let down by have happened. Covid has wrecked the tourism industry in Majorca with so many places closed down. However, the experience that we had from the Zafiro this time round (unfairly compared to pre covid) was much reduced. If it means that the hotel survives and lives another day we didn’t mind. I paid for my trip back in 2019 and took our break in late 2021, the money I paid would have been long spent before I arrived. I really do truly understand why things were a little bit more budget. However, the hotel was really being unwound as we watched and stayed there (The outdoor stage was literally being disassembled as we had a coffee with 3 days left to go on our trip. The food was a much lower quality than we had experienced both Mid-season and end of season pre covid (the harshest part of this review is that we have experienced Zafiro hotels at their best and comparisons are tough) and by the end of our stay, the hotel had closed half of the catering hall off and reduced the number of serving stations by two as well. The range on offer was simpler and less diverse as well as the week went on. Coffee machines ran out of coffee, there was no croissants for the last two days of breakfast. The entertainments team were down to three in number. (8 in peak season pre covid and 5 in October pre-covid as well) and the gardeners were giving the trees and bushes their end of season trim and cut down while we were still there. Staff tried their best and we were just so glad to have been able to travel that it didn’t matter as much. I hope the Zafiro has made enough money over covid to stay afloat and if we needed a slightly reduced level of service to allow this to happen for the sakes of the staff and their jobs, then that is all ok with me. Maybe if I give it another go when there is hope of recovery, we can see a return to the Zafiro of old! We went out and visited the town and one other of our favourite places from a previous visit and so many businesses have not survived covid, it was a very sad site at times.

Great hotel

We stayed here for half term the last week in October. The hotel is lovely, clean & spacious. There are a number of swimming pools which are open to everyone, a splash park with small slides & a larger slide for older children. There was table tennis, mini golf & other activities to keep you entertained & entertainment each evening. We were self catering & bought croissants or pain au chocolats from the on-site supermarket for breakfast & ate at the pool bar at lunchtime. There is no cash used on site so things are charged to your room using the wristband you are given on check-in. We ate out every evening & although not everywhere was open, we found enough places to eat at. We booked a swim up room which although didn’t give direct access to the pool, we just had 2 step off the large terrace, cross a small patch of grass & we were at the pool with the Bali beds - lovely! Room could do with updating but it was spacious, clean & house keeping came every day. The hotel was closing for the season on our last day & despite not being collected until 17:45 & being the last guests there, the hotel went out of their way to make sure we didn’t feel uncomfortable, even offering (before we asked) for us to keep our room on until the last minute so that we could swim & then shower & change before our transfer. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic

Stayed as a family of 3 with a 12 year old. Our room had a hot tub which was amazing, all staff from reception to bar staff, entertainment staff were so friendly and welcoming. We loved our stay and would return.
