Rude receptionist
Such a wonderful hotel, let down by an extremely rude receptionist. We enquired about a taxi back to the airport and we’re shocked by her extremely aggressive and rude response. Shrugging her shoulders, demanding to know what time we were checking out and saying What do you want? What was your question? It doesn’t sound that bad when you write it down but both my son and I felt extremely uncomfortable with her aggressive attitude. A normal approach would start with ‘How can I help you?’ and a smile. Not ‘What’ and a scowl!! Aside from this, Beautiful views, stunning suite, extremely pleased with our stay.
Stylish and convenient hotel
Stylish and convenient hotel with fiendly and responsive staff. Booked a level room which got us breakfast in restaurant 57 and access to the level lounge. Both with great views. Great breakfast selection (more than you used to get in the level lounge). Slightly reduced selection of snacks available in the lounge compared to our last visit 6 years ago.
Overpriced for 5 stars
Staying at a 5* Hotel always creates high expectations. From the check in to the check out, it has been a disaster. I will keep it short as any time spend on this property, even it is just for a recap, is a waste. Entering a Hotel lobby one knows instantly if it the hotel or facility is managed by a good team or not. When I entered the building to check in, the lobby was not even close to say it was busy. A couple was already served by a receptionist while the other receptionist obviously had a very relaxed conversation on the phone. Hanging up she wouldn’t even mind to show some respect, but screamed out „next“. Handing over my ID she noticed my personal data and yelled out my last name twice. As if anyone wants his name to be heard by everyone in the Hotel. Not really discrete. I will not talk about the minimal standard a person in Hospitality should have, such as Hello, how can I help you (and not a „what?“), feel free to reach out at any time etc. I mean, this is standard. And some employees really to apply those and some are completely misplaced. But thats on the management to choose who they trust with. As a customer I simply expect a minimal standard of service provided for the cash paid. A view alone is not a enough. Finally entering the room, I was stocked by the view and disappointed by the room. Dirty rugs, awful smell, sprays of an unidentifiable drink on the wall and ceiling, dirty windows, dusty shelves, cracked chairs, paper thin walls, … I could go on and on. Then I was offered an upgrade for extra 80€ which would include a complementary beverage and drink. Thats what I was told. Turned out be absolutely not the case. The Lounge (Level) was closed at 9pm (on a Saturday evening), while according to the employee at the reception it was supposed to close at 10pm. Asking if I could order to the room, I was given a go that I can order anything from the menu (on TV as due to Corona the management decided not to use paper menu anymore) However, back in the room, I ordered from the room service and the food came 40 mins after. Cold, burned, overcooked and overpriced. (Photos available) Addressing my unsatisfied consumption and misleading upgrade I expected a response. Nothing! Apparently, no one feels responsible. After we were kicked out at 9.03pm from the Level we tried to get a table at the Bar upstairs, expecting that hotel guests might have a privilege. Turned out, the bar was operated by an external company and therefore no privilege or any sort of service without a prior booking. I felt so uncomfortable at the Hotel that I had to leave in the middle of the night. Did not ask for any discount or would not even complain. Sorry, but never again. In case the Hotel Management minds to reply to this with a standard response highlighting that it is constantly improving their service, I have a message for you: Start engaging with your guests while they are at the premises.
