We had a fantastic family holiday at Walt Disney World in Florida staying at All Stars Music . The hotel was nice fantastic pools transport to the theam parks was excellent . Lots of entertainment for children at the pool side plus nightly movie screenings by the pool. Free wifi available all over the resort and at all the disney parks

Thought we would do the Disney experience before the kids got too old. Flight and transfer was pleasant. The resort was basic, but all that we needed as we spent such little time there. Clean, with helpful and polite staff and little noise despite the resort being popular with school sports teams. Food was ok, but the paper plates and plastic cutlery let the side down a bit. Free shuttlebus to the attractions was a boon, but beware the whole Disney complex is huge and it is a fair drive into Orlando itself. Saying that we only managed to get down town a couple of times due to being so busy. Disney is the family experience, whether you have old or young kids.

We traveled to Florida in November 2011 with Thomas Cook. The flights were ok, but are a bit cramped considering the length of the journey, it would be nice like I've seen on some (larger?) planes a small area where you can help yourself to drinks such as water, tea and coffee. With regards to the accommodation it was excellent, the All Star Music Resort is a standard/budget rating, but everything was very well organised, clean and tidy. The only issue we had was that the air conditioning in the room was not adjustable in speed or whether it could be turned on/off. We found it quite uncomfortable as it was either too cold or too hot. We enquired about this and they said only the deluxe resorts offered some way of getting fresh air, even the middle rated hotels were sealed boxes too. They did come and check it and turn it to its lowest fan setting. One tip is there are several blocks of rooms, each under a different theme. Some are by the main pool which I think could be quite noisy if you like an early night, people in the pool until around 11pm. We stayed in the Broadway block and although a 5 minute walk from the eating etc it was much quieter. There was a less used pool nearby so it was perfect. The distances to the various parks varied, some were near and others a little longer. It looked to me like the more expensive accommodation was placed nearer to the main parks, but perhaps I'm being cynical. The longest bus journey was 20 minutes to Downtown Disney. The bus service was very efficient and well run. The quality of food at the All Star Music resort was very good - don't choose the food based on the pictures though - pictures of food almost never looks good, but pick for example the chicken with pasta and it was very well prepared and presented. Lots of choice. October is a GREAT time of year to go to Disney, the weather was fantastic most days, and there was very little queuing. The parks were busy but nothing like it must be in the summer. Overall I would have no problems recommending this resort and Thomas Cook provided very good service, the representative there was very helpful. Note: I wouldn't bother going to the welcome meeting on the first day, it's a long journey as it is based at Universal Studios, and after a long flight etc the day before I think it's mad to have a welcome meeting so far away from the resort.
