OK, but not for us.
The room and facilities were fine, but we were woken early every morning by the sound of staff dragging plastic chairs across the ground by the swimming pool. This, and the regular non-availability of the Thomas Cook rep, has ensured that we will not be using the Columbus again. The staff, especially the cleaners, were very friendly and helpful. There was also the noise of refurbishing of rooms being carried out on the same floor as rooms occupied by guests.

First family holiday abroad
This was our first holiday abroad with the grand children. I t was a very bad holiday experience at the columbus apartments. We paid £3.700 plus for a week for party of 9 people. When we arrived the receptionist (Bianca) said that the rooms allocated to us wern't suitable but i will show you them.. when we got there, there was no kitchen although we had paid for self catering units. all that was there, was a small table top fridge on the floor, Bianca said that she could get us a kettle.. we refused this room and were allocated rooms 708/711/712 right by the pool, looked lovely but as soon as we entered the rooms, it was dreadful, patches of artex/plaster crumbling off the walls, 2 hob cooker which was glowing bright red and burning all our food, the knobs had all melted and distorted and all temperature numbers were illegible (so spent loads on meals outside which we didnt cater for) tried for ages to get fresh towels, but was told that towels were repleneched when the maid cleaned the rooms.. all the maid did was empty the waste bin and fit a new plastic bag liner. we eventually had new towels on the 4 th day after i went and dumped the dirty smelly towels on reception desk.there was no ventelation in the rooms especially the bedroom and bathroom, neither no windows, it was lit but a small plastic dome sky panel, the rooms were very humid, and clostrophobic, my grandkids were waking up soaking in sweat. The shower was blocking up and flooding the bathroom floor and flooding the hallway, I was told not to use the diable shower, i told them i am disabled and they said not for you, its for wheel chair people, this gutted me..we saw the thomas cook rep and filled forms in and he came and saw all the issues mentioned, I am now currently in contact with thomas cook complaints department as we paid a lot of money for a filthy hotel, rude staff, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE.

Let down by Thomas Cook and Hotel
We went all inclusive and felt that we where on a conveyer belt, staff seemed completely uninterested. Found a receipt in the bedroom dating back to June 2012, our holiday February2014.
Despite being in a party of 3 adults and one toddler we had to make several journey's to the bar. Food the first week was okay but exactly the same the second week, this was our second holiday at this hotel, we wouldn't be back for a third time.
Very disappointed in Thomas Cook as well, checked into the flight and we where given 4 aisle seats, both outward and return (despite complaining about the return journey) I didn't expect us all to sit together but I fully expected at least 2 seats together for my 2 year old grand-daughter, and yes she did pay for her seat.

We travelled as a group of 4 females (Mum and 3 daughters) aged between 45 and 69 on 31st January 2014 which was a Christmas gift for our mum. The apartment we were given was on the 5th floor (rm 502) -not a problem as there was a lift. On opening the door to the apartment we were greeted with a severe damp smell. On entering the room we saw large patches of damp on the ceiling which had been obviously covered with paint which was flaking off, particularly in the kitchen and bathroom areas. As our mum suffers with asthma we refused to stay in the room. Hotel reception insisted that the hotel was full and there were no other rooms available. Fortunately, the Thomas Crook Representative - Craig, was very sympathetic and viewed the apartment himself. He agreed with our findings and approximately 20 minutes later was able to secure another apartment on the 3rd floor. The apartments are very basic but served the purpose for a week's break. The winter sun did not cover many areas of the pool so we spent most of our time on the beaches. We could not comment on entertainment or other facilities as we preferred to research the area.
We would not visit this aparthotel again.

Good job weather was good
Stayed at columbus in room 239. When we walked into room just wanted to turn around and come home. Room dated and not even clean. Rep said as it was new year resort was full unless we were prepared to pay 800.00 there and then to upgrade to a hotel that had one room.. All we did was sleep in room well if I can call it sleep 4 of us in 2 beds as what they expected children to sleep on was a hard settee then the second child on a bit of wood underneath with an awful dirty mattress on. Good job weather was good as we were up and out for breakfast as no one in there right mind would have prepared or eaten food in room.

My husband and I have just returned from a weeks self catering holiday at the Columbus. After reading the reviews I was a little concerned about the hotel, but I should not have taken any notice of them.
Our room was big enough and very clean, and kept very clean by the maids who came in every day and changed the towels, swept the floors, emptied the bins etc if you wanted the bed changing you just needed to leave a note on it and that was done too.
There was a fridge, kettle, toaster and enough crockery and cutlery for us, the hob only had two rings there was no oven, but who goes on holiday to slave away over a hot stove when eating out can is so cheap.
The pool area is very nice although there isn't much room for lots of sun beds, though there are plenty of other places to sunbathe, 2 roof terraces and a terrace at the back of the hotel.
The hotel is just a 10 min walk to the beach.
We would stay here again and would recommend this hotel to friends.
