as already explained to your customer service colleague the stay was ruined with the ongoing demolition by the mechanical drilling that went on for 6 days of our holiday.

What a let down, after reading other reviews we went with an open mind. This must have been a nice hotel say 10 years ago rooms require upgrading, have never encountered such poor showers , Hotel struggles to cope when busy food poor and cold, staff tried their best but guests were left wandering around looking for tables self sevice drinks very hit or miss wine was awful. Staff on the whole were pleasant but reception staff were the exception. We tried to keep our room for late check out as we weren't being picked up till 11 20pm only to be told no (they only had 5 rooms avaliable for a 300 room hotel) we were given a 4pm slot to use the courtesy room where my husband and I showered in stone cold water. This is the only all inclusive hotel that we have stayed in that terminated our all inclusive at 12 Noon therefore leaving us to pay for meals and drinks till our departure, Overall not a great hotel.

We arrived at the Barcelo Varadero apartments on the evening, and we got given a extended tea so we could eat when we got there that was nice as some hotels dont offer this service.
On arriving in our room we found that we were above the main restaurant area and there was not a problem with the noise from the room even though the balcony was on the front of the hotel or a problem with dogs barking.
The food on the night we got there was very basic but this was at 10 oclock on the evening, breakfast was ok again very basic but there was always a selection, lunch was better from the pool bar and tea there was a different selection each night..
The hotel pool area and kids facilities were bang on and my three year old absolutely loved the holiday and that she could go in any of the pools she wanted.
The one problem we had with this holiday was where the hotel was located there was a small beach and a few shops bout 15mins away walking but for the major towns and attractions it was a good hour on the local bus which wasn't convienient for us as we had to keep folding the pushchair and putting in the luggage part of the bus.
All in all this holiday was brilliant a nice friendly enviroment and staff were always trying their best to entertain.
would definetly go back to tenerife although would probably pik somewhere abit closer to a town then here.

Booked this as a last minute getaway for myself, husband and son. Playa de la Arena itself doesnt have a lot to offer and was very quiet at this time of year (October) which surprised us. The hotel itself is ok, food nothing to write home about. Pork on the menu in some shape or form every night and nothing different for kids which didnt bother us as our son is a good eater but might be a problem for some families. All inclusive drinks were fine although wine had to be ordered at the bar on an evening and wasnt on tap as it was in the restaurant which I found odd as all other alcoholic drinks including vodka, gin, whisky, rum, etc was all on a help yourself basis. The pool areas are good and we varied our pool location each day although the middle pool area where the cafe bar and stage area is can get very noisy when activities are taking place. The entertainment team worked hard and were good but the evening entertainment area was a bit cramped, its a shame the outdoor stage area isnt used on an evening. Weather in Tenerife was great, just had one cloudy day which was still very warm, otherwise wall to wall sunshine, no need for cardigan/jacket on an evening, it averaged 27 degrees at 8pm every night. Weekends at the Barcelo Varadero were a bit chaotic as the Spanish descended on the hotel and really took over the pool and restaurant areas so prepare yourself for that. Overall we enjoyed our stay but dont think we will return.

THE STAFF WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND NOTHING WAS A BOTHER TO THEM, ANYTHING YOU ASKED FOR WAS DELIVERED TO YOU STRAIGHT AWAY.WE WERE ALL INCLUSIVE AND YOU JUST HELPED YOUR SELF TO DRINKS AND FOOD ALL DAY LONG. OUR REP WAS A GREAT GUY CALLED BOB, ONLY ONE PROBLEM WITH THE THOMAS COOK REP . ON THE MONDAY WE WENT TO LORO PARK AT 7AM AND RETURNED AT 6.45 PM THE REP ON OUR COACH DID NOT SPEAK TO ANYONE ALL DAY DIDN'T EVEN SAY GOOD MORNING. WE WERE TOLD IT WOULD TAKE US 1 1/2 HOURS TO GET THERE WRONG TOOK NEARLY THREE HOURS AND STILL THE REP DID NOT SPEAK . WATCH OUT FOR THE SUN ADVISER LADY WE BOUGHT SUN PRODUCTS FROM HER (50 EUROS) AND WE THEN GOT SUN BURN SO STICK TO YOUR OWN

we were very surprised to have our all inclusive bands removed by a very determined receptionist wiedling a very a very large pair of scissors when we booked out at noon
we wern't being picked up until 4:30 for our flight home
we were told we could buy a all inclusive band for each of us at a cost of 30euros each.
we had tried to book a room until departure but all rooms very already promised to new arrivals and had to make do with a shower and change in the sauna (at no cost)
we have had many all inclusive holidays and never had to give up our bands before.
i was also disappointed to find no film or radio on board our flight as i have since learnt that under 4 hours they are no longer provided

Great in Feb, but wouldn't fancy being there in high season. Sunbeds and waiting at the self service bars would probably be a problem. Food was ok but nothing special, plentiful and always piping hot though. We were in Block D, so we had the same problems as others, mainly being woken by the cockeral at 05:30, followed by the dogs barking, then the cleaners wheeling out the trolleys. It didn't spoil the holiday though, became a bit of a laugh in the end. Not a lot to do outside the hotel, but we just went for a break and a rest in the sun and achieved what we wanted. Would go back but only Nov-Mar.
