Lopesan Costa Meloneras Resort, Spa & Casino - Hotel Info

Lopesan Costa Meloneras Resort, Spa & Casino is a hotel that's a short stroll from the beach in Maspalomas, a resort town on the southern coast of Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands. Gran Canaria has a variety of attractions suitable for families, couples and friends travelling together.
The hotel has five outdoor pools, including an infinity pool and a kids' pool. It has a range of relaxing facilities, such as a sauna and a Turkish bath. The hotel is also home to several restaurants, including two buffet restaurants and three à la carte options. Between meals, you may like to spend some time at the hotel's seven bars, one of which has live music several evenings a week.
The coastal area of Maspalomas sits at the meeting point between two of the island's major highways; one that runs around the entire coast, and another that cuts through Gran Canaria's mountainous heart and rugged natural parks to reach the northern coast. From Maspalomas, it's possible to drive around most of the island in a matter of hours, making most destinations accessible from the hotel. Local family favourites include Aqualand Maspalomas, which is home to water chutes, slides and a bubble pool, and Sioux City Park, a Wild West-themed ranch with lots of Western shows, cabaret bars and saloons.

This is my third visit to this hotel but was not disappointed, had a great time, lovely hotel, perfect location and delicious food. First time we traveled with Thomas Cook Was very disappointed that we did not see the Thomas Cook rep nor did he/she get in touch, even to find out when we got the coach back to the airport, we had to find the Thomas Cook book and look to see when we should wait for it outside the hotel. We had one query and the hotel staff said to see our hotel rep - what rep!

Lopesian Casino and Spa hotel. Beautiful hotel serving scrumptious food in a very upmarket area. Staff were helpful and very attentive. Grounds and all hotel areas were immaculate. Also lots of restaurants serving delicious food can be found behind the hotel on the seafront boulevard. Lovely range of designer shops in the vicinity and the sand dunes of Maspalomas were within walking distance.

Reflecting on our annual trip to Lopesan Costa Melanoras on our return, we would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone. It accommodates everyone and anything. Great day activities, particularly for the ladies. The staff were very attentive, work incredibly hard, and managed to fulfil all our needs speaking very little spanish. Head waiters were friendly and welcoming on arrival to the restaurant to the left, unfortunately the front restaurant to the right does not compare, and the proof was in the pudding, when we were ushered on the odd occasion to this one at busy times. Pools were amazing, much needed during the hot days. It is a shame that it is almost impossible to swim in the sea, very strong currents and substantial slope in! Beautiful beach with views of the dunes and immaculate surrounding area. We were surprised that food and drink and some perfume items were so reasonably priced in the "Millionaires Playground".Riu Perfum has some great offers. Buses to surrounding resorts easy due to the bus station being 5 minutes walk away, beware not so easy to get back. Had to use taxis on a couple of occasions as there were no bus stops back, and not frequent, luckily the taxis are very reasonable at about 5 euros one way. A must is Palmito Park, lovely area with some amazing species. Great bird and dolphin show. Easy bus return just outside of entrance. We did buy our tickets online with discount after looking at the flyer given to us, but was a disaster because we couldn't print the tickets and had to pay the difference on arrival and a telling off! Yes the food is slightly repetitive, but okay for a week. We enjoyed every meal and enjoyed trying the different fish, especially the fried octopus. Rooms are very spacious and even though the furniture is slightly dated, it is very useable and clean. Will definitely return at some point in the future as a base for exploration. Be prepared to be the minority as an English guest, very few of us around. Didn't bother us much, apart from the usual towel reservation on the sun beds! It can be difficult to get a sunbed, spent many trips walking around the pool looking for somewhere to relax for an hour, but we find this is the case in most hotels. Spa was lovely,it is 93 euros for 4 hours spa experience and three bonus treatments in the various pools and ice igloo ect, not cheap but worth the experience! Enjoy this little piece of heaven!

We stayed at the Lopesan Costa Meloneras for 2 weeks. Overall 1st impressions were very good, impressive driveway leading up to the hotel and the lobby area very nice. A line formed at the reception desk though, there did not appear enough staff on here ever, especially to provide a service to over 1000 rooms. The pool areas and grounds are stunning, the infinity pool is beautiful and although the hotel is massive, you do not feel like everyone is tripping over each other whilst outside. The letdown here is that many of the sunbeds were in shaded areas as the grounds are full of trees. The hotel says that it adopts a no tolerance policy on reserving sunbeds but this was clearly not adhered to, everyday the same people would hog the beds in the sun. I mentioned this to reception and nothing was done. The corridors of the hotel are getting shabby, wallpaper is peeling and carpets are fraying, these areas could do with a refirb. The rooms in general are nice, bathrooms too, it's just a shame the furniture is so cheap looking, it's plywood, not what you expect from a 4 star hotel. Staff in this hotel seemed sometimes friendly, overall not always engaging. Some servers were lovely, including the lady that greets you at breakfast, others did not engage with their guests at all, they seemed overworked and stressed alot of the time. I am not used to this as I usually use Riu Palace hotels and their staff are all very well trained in customer service and even the maids and cleaners engage with the guests, here at Lopesan it was not like that. Many of the staff seemed too stressed to have time to talk to their customers, again the sheer size of this hotel does not help, it is too large and impersonal. Food...the food was good overall, although food safety issues with several of the chefs using the same tongs to handle raw chicken and cooked chicken etc, not good hygiene! Plus the eggs at breakfast were never cooked correctly. The gym...well there is a free one which has no cardio equipment at all and very old equipment. There is also a gym (part of the spa) that you can pay for. I paid for a series of sessions here. Whilst I was using this gym I had paid for I was very rudely barked at by the personal trainer who told me I could not use the power plate, very embarrassing for me. At no point had anyone explained to me that I could not use certain pieces of equipment when they took my money! )they now have a sign since my complaint!) The Spa was out of use whilst I stayed here so I could not use it. The Jacuzzi on one of the decks was out of use also and so was one of tge restaurants. Location of this hotel is great. Overall this hotel is a nice property, personally I feel it is too large and not for me so I would not return here. There are also things that need to be addressed as I have mentioned. I will use one of the Riu Palaces next time I return.
