Fabulous break in Venice, stayed at the Centurion Palace which was excellent. The service and all amenities were 100%.This hotel has a great location sitting directly on the Grand Canal and within easy reach of the water bus service. Wonderful city, we will definitely be going back again

A very smart well run hotel with high standards set at all times. The staff are well trained in all aspects of serviceto the client. The Il Gallo D.Oro restaurant is aiter service and gentlemen are required to wear jacket or tie (not mentioned in Thomas Cook brochure). The other restaurants are excellent but less formal.

Having so looked forward to what we knew was going to be a fabulous, 5 star holiday, staying at what we believe to be the best Hotel in Madeira, sadly, things didn't quite work out that way. Manchester Airport was where our holiday went so horribly wrong. We checked in two cases, extra luggage allowance so useful when planning to enjoy fine dining and wanting to take additional evening wear. The first case was booked correctly onto our flight to Funchal; the second case was booked onto a flight out to Lanzarote, our case having we assumed, an in-built micro chip which had prior knowledge of better weather there. But no, the check-in agent simply got it wrong. We were finally reunited on day 6 of our 7 day holiday! Still, we now have detailed knowledge of all the best clothes shops in Funchal where we spent a great deal of our holiday trying to replace the missing articles. The Cliff Bay hotel, its staff, the accommodation and dining experiences all delivered the exquisite holiday we knew was awaiting us, sadly the AWOL suitcase failed to live up to the same standard. Thomas Cook ruined what should have been a wonderful break for my wife and I. Extra luggage? helpful providing 50% isn't sunning itself far away from where you are!

Celebrated our flight on Valentine's Day with a bottle of champagne, cabin crew were excellent and very attentive. Our hotel was just the right distance from the centre of Funchal for us to stroll there and back each day. The hotel was amazing, and exceeded all our expectations. They even left a birthday cake in our room for us on my birthday! We felt that we had had the most wonderful and relaxing holiday ever, and would certainly hope to return to the Cliff Bay again.

There s a great selection of hotels to choose from in and around Funchal but you would have to go a long way to beat the Cliff Bay. The hotel is quite simply superb from the hospitality of the staff to the room & facilities at the hotel. It was the best hotel we have ever stayed at.Great choice of food at breakfast- hot & cold buffet, continental and english style available. Omelettes cooked on the spot as were the fried eggs. The location is stunning set just above Funchal and right on the coast of the Atlantic. There are a good selection of bars and retaurants within 5/10 mins walk either side of the main entrance to the hotel but with a bus stop just outside the hotel, Funchal is within easy reach. 3.5 euros bus ticket takes 2 people into the centre of Funchal & a taxi back was 5 euros with the tip.Funchal is lovely and clean with many bars/restaurants scattered around the town. Shopping or just enjoying the cafe culture is great. Despite being a mountainous island the centre of Funchal is flat & great for just having a stroll at whatever time of day it is. We were a bit dubious about the weather in Nov but were bathed in sunshine for the whole week and temps. around 75. Would certainly go back and recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a totalling relaxing break in a hotel that will meet all your needs, isn't too far out of town if you want a change of scene, and where you a looked after like a celebrity.
