Four Views Monumental - Hotel Info

Four Views Monumental is a family-friendly hotel in Funchal on the south coast of the Portuguese island of Madeira. There are views out to sea from the hotel's decked sun terrace, where you can relax with a drink from the poolside bar.
The hotel has two outdoor swimming pools, one of which is suitable for children. Both pools are heated, and the hotel's spa also has an indoor swimming pool. You can relax in the sauna, book a treatment, or join in with an exercise or yoga class. Younger guests can entertain themselves in the playroom or games room. The hotel puts on entertainment for you to enjoy. All of the rooms and apartments at the hotel have balconies that offer a view of either the sea or the mountains.
From Four Views Monumental, it's a short walk to Funchal's lido and pebbly beach. There are plenty of places to eat and drink in the area, and the lido promenade is a popular place for an evening stroll with several bars and restaurants along the way. If you're a keen walker, you can explore Madeira's scenic green and volcanic landscape which provides plenty of hiking opportunities.

Location
Four Views Monumental is right next to Funchal's lido, which stretches out into the sea, and has seawater pools and tiered sun terraces. If you prefer to swim in the ocean, you can take a short 200m stroll to the pebbled beach. The tree-lined lido promenade is a short walk from the hotel.
Funchal's Old Town is 2.5km away. Its cobbled streets are home to shops, restaurants and bars, and you can admire the views from Sorrocco Church at the top of the town. You can also take a day trip inland, walking one of Madeira's famous 'levada' trails, which follow the old watercourses through the hills.

This is second visit to this hotel and did not dissappoint. We were unsure of going back because of the refurbishment but its 1st class and would not fail to recommend this holiday to any-one who doesn't want a noisy beach getaway.

Hotel is comfortable and friendly. Food in restaurant is of good quaility with lots of choice. Hotel is in a good location with lots of places within an easy walk. Great to walk into Funchal, or go in the opposite direction to the shopping centre then further on to a pebble beach and if you have enough energy continue along the coastal path to the fishing village of Lobos.

Our stay at Four Views Monumental, Funchal was all we expected and more. The hotel was comfortable and clean, as we expected. The food was better than we expected and with the great choice there was always something for everyone to enjoy. Themed evenings in the restaurant are a good idea, especially the Madeira evening. The days we chose to sit by the pool we had no problem finding sunbeds and service from the poolside bar was good. Our one very slight disappointment was that the pool was not open for an early morning swim before breakfast, but never mind we walked instead. Funchal is a great place. The town centre is a reasonable walk but made interesting with so many flowers and plants everywhere, interesting statues and pavement decorations. Taxi and bus rides where very reasonable. Go up on the cable car and come down on the toboggan - brilliant. Try the Bonita for a great boat trip to spot dolphins and whales - excellent. Walk along a Lavada - fantastic. We will return for another holiday.

We hadn't been on holiday for a few years and were really in need of a break. A couple of friends had been to Madeira and recommended so we thought we should give it a try. I did a fair amount of research into the accommodation and based on other reviews plumped for The Four Views Monumental in the Lido area of Funchal. Our flight was delayed & the landing pretty scary but we arrived at the hotel in good spirits. The reception area was quite dark but spacious & the reception staff were friendly & efficient. Our room was fairly standard but very clean, furniture was in good nick, the bathroom was quite nice & we had a fridge & kettle in the room which we found very useful. We had a quick wander round the hotel & resort to get our bearings and went for our first evening meal - what pleasant surprise that was. Staff very friendly again and the choice & quality of food was very impressive.Plenty of salads, 3 meat & 2 fish dishes plus fresh veg & different types of potato for mains and lots of choice for pud. Needless to say we were carrying excess baggage by the end of the week!! Breakfast was just as good with lots of choice of both hot & cold food, fresh fruit, different breads, tea coffee & juice. The hotel has 2 pools and there was never a shortage of of sunbeds. It also boasts an indoor pool & spa. There was entertainment on every night which to be fair was a laugh but super cheesy but still drew an audience!! Taxi rank & bus stops right outside the hotel & plenty of restaurants & bars nearby if you wanted to venture out. We did go out both daytime & evening and had nice food at other restaurants and drank in relaxed bars. The resort was very clean with a relaxed atmosphere day & night and we didn't really have any cause for complaint about anything. Prices were neither cheap nor expensive. The cheesy entertainment seemed to be the theme at a few bars/hotels but as said before it was a good laugh!! Cracking hotel , great value for money & would definitely go again.
