Four Views Oasis - Hotel Info

Four Views Oasis offers stylish accommodation in a relaxed seafront setting, near the centre of Caniço de Baixo, on Madeira's south coast. It sits on the promenade, and steps lead down to the rocky shore of Reis Magos beach. The hotel has a heated outdoor swimming pool, a smaller pool for children and a whirlpool.
Set in gently sloping gardens, the building has a peach-coloured exterior, with a sun terrace overlooking the ocean. The hotel has a double-height lobby, with floor to ceiling windows. Inside the hotel, you'll find an indoor pool. Bedrooms are bright and airy, with patio doors leading onto a balcony or terrace.
At Four Views Oasis, you can book a treatment at the spa, head to the fitness centre, or enjoy a Turkish bath and sauna. Children can use the playground. You'll be within walking distance of Caniço de baixo, with some restaurants and bars. The hotel shuttle service can take you to the city of Funchal, with its waterfront cafés, cobbled streets and souvenir shops, along with its yacht-lined marina.

Well overall we had a great time, weather was very good the Rui Palace was excellent, however the resort is way out of the way of anypopulated areas and those nearbye are all up hill and I mean up hill. There is a shuttle to the main city Funchel from the Hotel and there is a very good bus service. We enjoy travelling by public transport to find our way around but this proved a little difficult so we booked two full day tours and two half day tours throught our operator and we loved them, comentary all in english friendly and knowledgable guides. If your looking for late night bars and all the trappings you may find on a lot of spanish resorts this place is not for you. Its a peacefull and reast full place and the Rui Palace hotel was great (except the bed)

Madeira is a beautiful island with a great climate but you really need to hire a car to make the most of it. There is plenty to do if you are prepared to travel around a bit - the majority of places can be reached within an hour. There is not much going on in the resort of Canico de Baixo (which is a 20-30 minute walk uphill to Canico). Mysteriously there are no watersports available - waterskiing, windsurfing and kayaking would seem obvious sports to have but there is nothing. Two minutes' walk from the hotel is a popular beach (all beaches in Madeira are stony except for the man-made sandy beach at Calheta some 45 minutes' drive away and which really isn't worth the journey!) where you can jump and dive safely into the sea from the seemingly disused harbour wall or swim out to the raft. There are life guards on duty and a couple of cafes. Further afield there is the Aquapark (10-15 minutes' drive), the Madeira Theme Park (30-40 minutes' drive), Porto Moniz where there are natural swimming pools in the rocks (1 hour), the volcanic caves at Sao Vicente and miles and miles of levadas to walk on all over the island. Funchal is definitely worth a visit and the hotel has a free bus which takes about 20 minutes and which you must book at least one day before. There is a cable car up to Monte which was good. We had planned to take the toboggan run back down into Funchal but it was incredibly expensive (50 euros for 4 of us in two toboggans) and apparently it stops short of Funchal so you have to get a taxi at the other end. The hotel was good, with all the facilities you would expect from a 4 star hotel including free wi-fi downstairs. (There is an internet room with two computers but they are SO slow!) The food was a real disappointment, however. We were on half board and the meals were buffets which can be very good in other hotels but not here. The food (especially the fruit) was not all fresh and it was often overcooked and always left out too long. Take your own teabags for the hotel room as they charge 3 euros to replenish the limited amount they provide you with. The rooms did have both bath and beach towels, which was good. You have to pay a daily rate for the safe (about 2 euros a day I think). This was a good holiday but don't expect a beach holiday. Our children (10 and 12) had a good time but it would have been better with some watersports.
