The friendly Rainbow is well located for all that Kalamaki has to offer. You won't even have to venture into town for something to eat, as the owners run their own taverna next door.

We've just returned from a weeks holiday at the Rainbow Apartments in Kalamaki. We've had a fantastic holiday. The rooms are basic but clean. There are limited cooking facilities but the food served both in the bar and taverna itself were excellent and were reasonably priced. Athena and Niko were very friendly and helpful as were the rest of their family and staff. We'll definitely be going back!!

This was my first visit to Greece but also my first holiday without parents. Zante is a beautiful island and also has great nightlife! This hotel is a 10 minute taxi from laganas which costs €10 each way. I thought it was lovely how our taxi driver on one of our nights was the dad of one of the waitresses in the hotel! The hotel always called the taxi for us and we always had safe journeys. The hotel is a good 15 minute walk from the beach and about 10 mins from the kalamaki strip where there are lots of nice restaurants. I would also recommend you book a boat trip from the cruise de mar tour operators as we did two and they were great! (Definitely do the shipwreck and turtle spotting) The hotel itself is pretty basic, you get two beds in each room, a kitchenette, a balcony and a bathroom. You have to pay extra for aircon but we didn't bother as we didn't have much money and if we left the door open in the evening it was bareable to sleep in. The only thing I didn't like in the room was the fact that the shower didn't have a holder. So you would have to hold it in one hand whilst showering and it often flooded the bathroom (there is a plug hole on the floor though). The bathroom light was also very dim. The hotel staff were lovely! Our rep Athena took good care of us and kept us well informed. Bar staff were also great and also gave us free shots one night! We had a fab night on Greek night too! One thing to be wary of is that if you want to bring people back to the hotel they won't be let in. My friend bought a guy back after a night out just whilst another of our group was dropped off as she wanted to come back early and the main bar guy grabbed the guys face and said he wasn't allowed to go upstairs to our room. This is due to a bad experience in the past apparently. Wifi also only works in reception/pool area. Also cleaners are very persistent! One morning we were very tired after a night out and they literally wouldn't leave! All we wanted was new towels but they still mopped and we had to sit on the balcony whilst they cleaned even when we told them to go. Sheets and towels were replaced every other day if you left them on the bed and I think Wednesday was their day off.

My husband and I enjoyed a fabulous holiday staying at the Rainbow studios in Kalamaki in June. We had a room on the top floor (as requested) and it had a lovely view overlooking the pool and countryside. The studios are typically Greek in that they are basic but they are clean, well maintained and the staff at the Rainbow are lovely, they speak very good English and are really helpful with any queries. They put on entertainment some evenings and if anyone suggests trying something different the staff will go out of their way to accommodate this. The pool area is very good and again kept spotlessly clean and there is also a large grass play area for the children with football nets, swings and slides. The food at the taverna is very good and the drinks at the bar are also very good!! We also ate out at several other tavernas in the area and never had a bad meal and we were always served with a smile and had a bit of banter with the waiters, which is always good for a laugh. The studios are situated just on the outskirts of Kalamaki village but only a 5 minute walk from Crystal beach (where the turtles come to lay their eggs) and again only 5 minutes from 'the strip' where there are plenty of bars and tavernas and even a large childrens play area.

How do you like your room . overloooking the local shallholdings sound great . Don'y forget the cockerls at all times of day and night . The lovely farm dogs barking all night . just to add to the fun the goats and bells . If your are really lucky you will also get YOUR NEIGHBOURS air conditioning unit on your balcony , Thought that was great enjoying the blasts of hot air while having a noisy drink .OK the cleaners were friedly but grossly over worked and not very often .
