Alykanas Beach - Hotel Info

Sometimes a holiday is all about stepping off the treadmill and simply lying in the sun; for others it's about exploring new places, soaking up new cultures. A stay at Alykanas Beach means you can do both. Set on a lovely beachfront you're rewarded with beautiful sea views while you relax. But those looking for the sights can venture out and experience the little Greek villages with their traditional ways or take a boat trip to see the ruins of the famous smuggler's ship.

Very mixed reviews about this place. Firstly I feel Thomas Cook description of the two bedroom apartment stating ‘an open plan lounge-dining area’ is totally untrue. I always book apartment rather than studio so we have a lounge area. This was totally not the case here, 2 bedrooms and a kitchen/entrance area with a dining table. I may have well saved my money and booked a studio as we had to sit on the bed all week. The apartments are drab and in desperate need of refurbishment. Thankfully we have wonderful weather in October and so spent as little time as possible in there. Saying that the apartment was clean as were the rather old, greying, frayed towels. The location was wonderful with the pool area straight onto the beach. Resort great with lots of lovely places to eat and wonderful service. All in all we had a good holiday but won’t be returning unless we see the apartments have improved. It’s such a shame as has superb potential.

We came here on 17th May for 1 week for our first time. Would recommend this hotel over and over again. Perfect location, staff are very friendly and helpful, pool a good size, lots of loungers and the location is brilliant to explore Alykanas or the rest of the island. Lots of little tavernas hidden away with great views. Rooms are clean and just what you need for a holiday. Stop thinking about it and book it now! We will definitely be coming back.

Stayed in room 339 sea view, located next to bar/snack bar/entertainment. The usual additional costs for room safe and air conditioning were as expected. Large room, huge bed for 2 adults and single bed for teenage son. Room had everything needed. Sunbeds were easy to obtain without having to get up at the crack of dawn. Lovely seafront location. Bars, tavernas and supermarkets within minutes walk. Stayed 13 - 28 August 2017. Maid for room was wonderfully attentive. Entertainment started regularly at 10.15pm which was for me and my family far too late generally going on until midnight. Live singers, karaoke and quiz nights. Unfortunately due to the location of the entertainment (in the bar/snack bar area outside by pool) all rooms were looking into this area. Our room located on 1st floor right next to this felt like we had a concert in our room every time entertainment was on. Complaints to Thomas Cook and directly to hotel were fruitless. Will never return again to this hotel having visited Alykanas 4 times and this being the most expensive holiday.

Wonderful place to relax, right on the beach. Brilliant staff who cannot do enough for you. Fantastic restaurants near by. my only concern that there are rumours Thomas Cook want to turn it into All Inclusive, I for one won't return if it does even after visiting for the last six years. They will destroy the Village Alykanas, and many businesses will close. Please don't do it.

We stayed in Alykanas Beach for 1 week in Sept 2015. What a fab time had by all! this was our 3rd visit to the Island ( my parents 4th) and i am in the process of booking back to this hotel for 2016. Our 4 year old loved the pools and play ground, and the staff were so lovely to us all. Hubby even had a regular pool match with them. Food in the bar was lovely ate there most days, had a good selection of food ( pizza's fab!) Karaoke was a bit loud and there was not alot of night entertainment, but we didn't stay there for that. Rooms are clean and see to your basic needs, and as you dont spend alot of time in them why do you need 5 star fancy frills?? Safe in room and we had air con which was cheaper than the other places we stayed in. Local restaurants full of choice. we loved Carissimo and went 3 times in one week! the staff were fantastic( just look for the Cockatiels out front)!! 5 euros rents you a sunbed on the beach for the day.
