Skiathos is unspoilt and quaint especially the Old Port part of the Town full of interesting alleyways, bars and taverna's. The Kleftico (lamb) is amazing and can be found on most of the menu's. The scenery is breathtaking, take a trip up to the Olive Garden Resturant to see the views at sunset. We stayed at Elenis village, clean pool and rooms, cosy bar and again the views are amazing though the climb up from the road is not for young families or the faint hearted. Go down to the beach at the bottom of the island - bus stop 26, soft white sand and fishes around your toes, taverna, bars, kiosks and water sports.

Elenis Village apartments are basic which is reflected in the price. They are good value for money and the staff are friendly and approachable. As stated in the description these apartments are located on a steep hillside and not suitable for anyone with mobility problems. It does not state however, that the steps up from the road consist of steps cut out of the hillside and held together with wooden planks and a rope rail to help you pull yourself up! There are no lights and this is rather dangerous in the pitch dark! Once on the main road, it is at least a ten minute walk downhill in either direction to reach any shops or restaurants. What you have to remember is that means a twenty minute walk back UPHILL carrying bags of shopping or at night after a meal. However, I absolutely LOVE Skiathos and have now been three times. I would recommend the boat trip to Skopelos especially for Mama Mia fans. We were able to moor in the bay next to the little chapel this time and I climbed to the top........ two hundred steps! Make sure you visit Koukounaris beach, my favourite beach anywhere except my own. Skiathos town is a fabulous place. Get off at Bus stop number 4 and walk down towards the harbour to take it all in. Explore the side streets for some little hidden treasures. The Old Port house pub sells really cheap beer and is run by a nice English couple. Lots of lovely little shops (and I'm not that keen on shopping) Try Portabello on the main street for a fab buffet breakfast and great service. Our favourite restaurant on the island is Elia's restaurant in Koukounaris. It is in the Mandraki hotel. Great place for a special night out. Everything is pink! Can't wait to go back!

Friendly relaxed atmosphere. Food good but limited. Pool area very clean. Apartments cleaned on a regular basis. Beach at Achladies very good approx 15 minute walk, supermarket does free delivery to apartments. Only negative are the steps leading to the complex.

We have just returned from 2 weeks at elenis village, and have had a holiday that we will remenber for a very long time. we found the appartments to be of great quality and comfort, yes there is a steep set of steps leading off the main road, but as long as that your not restricted or just plain lazy, then they are not a real problem. i will not be able to put in this review all that the owner (Kostas) and his family have made this a great holiday, they made us feel like part of the family, and could not do anymore to make this holiday memorable, the food in the pool bar was fantastic and great value, (breakfast highly recommend). the rooms were cleaned 3 times a week, which included changing the towels and sheets, and the bins were emptied every day. The views from the appartments are fantastic and also from the pool. The pool also has more than enough sunbeds and if you have as good weather as we did then you will be greatful for a dip now and again, we found it to be a great place for a relaxing and fun holiday, as for location it is only a 15 minute transfer from the airport and we often walked to skiathos town in the evenings, (approx 30 mins) There is a fantastic bus service that you can use and for 2 euro's you can go from skiathos town to koukounaries, we found that the Elenis is a great place to have a self catering holiday, great value for money, and in a great location to explore all the lovely places on the island. we will certainly go back to skiathos and will be very dissapointed if we can't get in at the elenis. Finally if you don't enjoy your holiday there, then you must be very hard to please.
