Fab Honeymoon at the Vekios
We stayed here early Sept 2011 for a week for our Honeymoon ... it was everything we expected and more
The location of the studios - right on the beach couldn't have been better and we had a sea view over looking the sea and the venetian castle on the headland
The studios were of a high standard for Greece.. : lots of space, secure doors and frenchdoors, safe, good kitchen, hot powerful shower, decent pillows... and very clean !!
The staff at the vekios were great - very helpful .... and the food on a lunchtime ( whilst overlooking the sea & beach) was really good
For us - this was the nicest place ever ... and so if you like being near to the beach with the option of a being near to a lovely greek town (Parga) as well - this is for you....
Dont miss the experience of hopping on a water taxi to get into parga at night ... really lovely

Vekios studios are ideally situated just over the road from the beach. All the rooms face the sea and in the evenings you can hear the waves breaking. The pool area is lovely, no sunbeds but plenty of chairs and parasols where you can sit and dry off with a drink or snack meal after a dip. The water was warm and very inviting.
The sea water gets deep quite quickly at Valtos beach, 4 or 5 steps and you're up to your neck. There was room in front or behind the rows of sunbeds to spread out your towels if you didn't want to pay for beds and parasols. The beach is sandy at the back, becoming shingle in the middle and pebbly near the sea. The shingle was great because it didn't stick to your suncream although some people needed water shoes to get into the sea comfortably.
Vekios serve traditional greek food in the evenings if you want to stay local, or you can walk (very steep, hill and steps) or take the water taxi into Parga town where it is more lively.
Parga/Valtos is not suitable for people with mobility problems.
The transfer from Preveza airport is getting on for 2 hours. This is because the area seems to attract a lot of couples staying in small accomodations that the coach cant reach and the final part of the transfer is done by minibus with the bags going in a truck. It was the same minibus and truck for every stop which made things slow as we had to wait for the drivers to catch up with the coach. Our final stretch down into Valtos was also by minibus.
It is a truly beautiful area and we had a fantastic holiday. Would I recommend it,yes. Would I go again, yes. Most of the people we met had been there before and were coming back for more.
