Mid September ( 11th -25th) in Finikounda is quiet and relaxed. Good Tavernas- Dionysus and Benitiko the best in our view. Unfortunately Panorama Resort is shutting up around you by then - lower pool was emptied the 2nd day we were there and they gradually started putting away the pool and pool bar furniture. The apartments are spacious with adequate self catering facilities but late in the season they lack atmosphere - few people and pool bar only open to 7pm. However, only 10 minutes walk down to the village and the lovely tavernas and coffee shops/bars and beach. The supermarket behind the church and along the main street are well stocked for self catering needs. Hire a car and explore - Methoni, Pylos, Koroni, Ancient Messene and the beaches at Gialova, Voidakilia, Tsapi, and if you have a 4x4 Maratho Bay. If you want relaxed, Greek and quiet, try this resort at the end of the season. Not sure what it is like at the height of the season with the Greeks holidaying there.

We are long established fanatics for Stoupa but were looking for a somewhere as good for an end of season, 7 night break. Finikounda turned out to be simply marvellous. It is really just a village but with a smart little harbour, good beach, excellent but modest priced tavernas and bars on the waters edge and easy access to other nearby beaches and towns. Panorama Resort offers really good, spacious accomodation. The rooms are modern, smart and well equiped with good cooking facilities, air conditioning and bug screens on all windows and balconies - overall among the best we have enjoyed in Greece. It has 2 good swimming pools. The staff are really friendly and helpful. We were self catering but heard that breakfast and pool side snacks were available and good. Although the Panorama is set into a hillside, access down into Finikounda is easy after the initial steep 50 metres, with no more than a 10 minute walk to the town centre, beach and tavernas. There is a good supermarket in centre of town close by the church with other mini-markets here and there. As we were at the end of season, the hotel and town were quiet but didn't feel as if they would be overwelmed in high season. Very relaxed atmosphere, some really nice small shops and bright sophistication after dark. No discos or upbeat night life and ideal for families and couples of all ages. The beaches are blue flagged and very clean. The coach from Kalamata airport takes around 75 minutes with enjoyable views. You don't need a car to enjoy Finikounda but we will hire one for a day or two next time as Mythoni and Pylos are close by and recommended as trips out by others we spoke to. We will always return to Stoupa but Finikounda is a smaller, very attractive and enjoyable alternative and Panorama Resort is recommended. We will definitely be returning to both in 2012.

The Hotel/Appartment location name "Panorama Resourt" is perhaps misleading. The accomation is both a hotel and aparthotel. The facilities are good:two pools and "free" aircon (ie. no local charge for a/c) are main highlights and spaciousness of the apartments are very good. What is also very good is the (almost) daily maid service and the standard of cleanliness, which was excellent. The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. THE MAIN PROBLEM IS THE LOCATION. ANYONE WITH ANY WALKING DIFFICULTIES SHOULD NOT BOOK THIS ACCOMADATION. The prmises are up a steep hill (howsoever you approach the buildings) and the hotel is multilevel in the extream (which makes for a pleasant environment if you are able bodied). We felt the cuurent manos brouchure discription did not truly reflect this fact. The resourt centre is not very far away (as the crow flies) but the hills will make things difficult. The resort has many fine beaches but again you need to be able bodied to walk to all of them (except town main beach). Town has good range of reasonable taveras. you need a car to see the lovely sorounding areas.

Had a faboulous 2 weeks in this very quiet resort. I f you are looking for greek hospitality at it's best, you won't go far wrong here. Facilites were of a very high standard in the hotel, and the beach was immaculate. Prices very resonable in most places. Great Italian pizzas made fresh on one of the back streets, this is a must, they also deliver! I would recommend this place to anyone who can entertain themselves and does not want too much nightlife. A few drinks a meal and nightcap is the order of the day. The walk up the hill can be a bit strenuous in the heat of the day, but looking at the all the farm animals on the way up makes it easier.
