Most unwelcoming hotel

I am a female who has just returned after having a holiday at Palmar Corfu Apartments with three friends about a week ago. We booked the holiday through Thomas Cook where we asked for a holiday in the sun in a lively area with people our age but not as crazy as Kavos. As a three star hotel, Palmar Apartments was recommended and after months of excitement for the holiday we were extremely disappointed.
On our arrival at about 4.00am after problems with the coach which didn’t stop at our hotel and took us miles out of the way, and after our Thomas Cook rep abandoned us, we arrived late and was greeted by the owner of the hotel. He took us to our room and was extremely unwelcoming.
Throughout our stay at Palmar Apartments, we realised we had been given the worst room for views, as we were located at the back which overlooked a coop of cockerels who woke us up at about 4-5.00am each morning.
We discovered that our toaster was broken which we complained about and nothing was done about it. We also realised that our microwave was broken and one of the flushes on the toilet.
We also had to complain about the maid service as we hadn't seen a maid for the first three days, by this time we expected our sheets to be changed, but more importantly the bin in the toilet to be emptied (if you haven't been to Greece yet, it's important to know that you cannot flush your toilet paper down the toilet, all the paper must go into the bin) and this was smelling rather badly in the heat. We then saw the maid the next day, but we did not see her regularly even though we were informed her only day off was Sundays, so I ended up cleaning the shower and floor myself. We also had to buy our own toilet paper from the local supermarket as the hotel provides each room with one roll a week. It's also important to know that there aren't any locks on toilet doors, both in and out the room. The shower was mainly cold, and we rarely had the luxury of a warm shower whilst staying in the accommodation.
As for the cleanliness of the room, two out of four of the beds occupied dirty sheets, and we bought washing up liquid and a sponge to clean the cutlery and plates prior to use as they were extremely dirty too.
The air-conditioning cost us €55 for 4 days, which we found was a waste of money as it doesn't work unless all windows and doors are shut, and decides to turn on and off when it likes. We were also not informed how to use the air-con and so had to ask again which we felt uncomfortable doing as the staff were so unfriendly.
As we were not welcomed by our Thomas Cook rep, we asked the staff at the hotel some information about places around Sidari which they appeared unwilling to give any helpful advice. As it was one of my friends birthday whilst we were in Sidari, our treat was to go on the banana boats, which we asked for directions and information about prices where they claimed they had no knowledge even though they advertise banana boat rides on their website.
We did however, try to make the most of our hotel at the beginning of our stay and ate in their lobby/bar/pool area where we struggled to know prices as they didn’t include these on the menu and the food was less than acceptable.
Their wifi is located around the pool and bar area, however does not extend to the apartments.
As a group of young females, we felt the staff were rude and we were treated unfairly as we were humiliated and shouted at in front of the pool area where many residents were seated to watch us be verbally attacked by the owner of the hotel after an incident with us swimming at 6.00am. Although we realized we were at fault, we were never given any rules or pool times and would have appreciated being spoken to in a courteous manner that explained the rules so we understood. After this incident we then spent our time either at the beach or the pools down the road (I would recommend planet pool which is down the same street, the staff are friendly and their pool is much nicer).
The hotel is situated a significant distance from any kind of entertainment.
At the end of our trip, we had to vacate the room at 12 midday, and our coach didn’t arrive at the hotel until midnight, therefore we asked for a room to store our bags, however they told us to keep our bags in their lobby which is totally unacceptable as they were not locked up and therefore breaking all airline regulations. At midnight, there was no goodbye of any kind.
As this is a Thomas Cook review, I will also add that our rep, Kayleigh left the coach without speaking to us at 4.00am and the Greek driver continued the journey apparently oblivious to the fact he had to stop at our hotel and he took us miles out of our way. I don't think this helped with the reception we received on eventually getting to our hotel. Not only that, we never saw her during our holiday for advice on places to visit, how the hotel is, obviously she didn't take us into our hotel. Did she even know we were there? The only contact we had with her was when she gave us a letter through the door to tell us to be quiet in the early hours of the morning. This is terrible behaviour from a Thomas Cook rep as it appears she completely forgot how to do her job.
Sidari is a fabulous place to visit, but unless you are prepared to spend all your money on all the hotel activities, do not expect any kind of welcome.

great family holiday
just come back from a family holiday . stayed at the palmar it was fab. palace was fab. staff was fab. my nephew got married in the palmar . it was a amazing . everyone at the palmar was very helpful .friendly they take you in like you are they own!!! we will be returning again next year!!!!!

fantastic holiday in sidari!
we have stayed here three times now and it just gets better. we are a family of two adults and two children. everything about these apartments are fantastic. we just keep coming back. we could not find one fault to mention but too many things we love to list!!!

A little gem on the outskirts of Sidari
Returned to Sidari for the second time, staying at Palmar Corfu for first time, apartment away from town but only 10min walk. Couldn't fault the accommodation all we could have asked for clean and well presented. Managed by a fantastic family who went out of way to ensure a great time was had by all.
will return again without hesitation.

super family run apartments
Love the Corfu Palmar, 2nd year of staying here.
Facilities are very good. The apartment and pool area are kept very clean.
There is a small menu available and all the food is freshly cooked and is lovely.
Far enough away from the bustle of Sidari but easy walking distance across the beach.
The sea a little disappointing as not crystal clear blue.
Would definately recommend and will probably return next year.

BEST HOLIDAY I’VE EVER HAD - I CRIED AS I DID NOT
We booked this holiday purely by the reviews placed on trip advisor & Thomas Cook, and we are so pleased that we did, as its been the best holiday we’ve ever had. It’s a family run hotel, and your made extremely welcome from day 1. We stayed in a Studio which was really large, and we had more than enough space for the 2 of us. Rooms were immaculately clean and very fresh & modern. The main bar area is the most Modern I have ever seen and the bar is open till last man standing, and we had quite a few of those as Costas & Spiros the brothers who own it keep you laughing all the time, never a dull moment at the bar. Maria their mum does all the cooking all home made to perfection, you have to taste it to believe it. I would Highly recommend anyone to book this hotel as you will not be disappointed. I have never said that I would go back to a hotel that I have stayed at, but cant wait for next year as Im definitely going back. There was quite a few people who were return guests year after year which says a lot for this hotel

Best Holiday Ever I did not want to leave
We booked this holiday purely by the reviews placed on trip advisor, & Thomas Cook + we are so pleased that we did, its been the best holiday we’ve ever had.
Book it you will not be dissapointed its Very Modern hotel the newest in Sidari. Costas + Spiros + their families who own the hotel, make you feel very welcome from day 1, Its a small & very friendly hotel and you can always get a sunbed, no need to get up early. The hotel is a 5 min walk along a small strip of bars/restuarants then a further 5 to the main strip. Costas & Spiros keep you laughing all the time and sometimes we forgot what time it was as the bar is open till last man standing, and there was many a late night. I cried on the last day as I did not want to leave.
