Why choose Norwegian Dawn?

Big is beautiful on this colossus of the oceans, which has packed every deck with enjoyment and luxury. Launched by Sex and the City actress Kim Cattrall, this ship helped redefine cruising and was the first to be adorned with Norwegian Cruise Line's distinctive hull art that makes them easily recognised whenever and wherever they come into port. Ten restaurants and 14 separate lounges and bars underpin the ship's freestyle cruising package, which allows passengers to eat whenever and wherever they prefer.

Destinations and itineraries

As the year progresses, the ship heads further and further south. Until September however, the Norwegian Dawn sails from Boston to Bermuda on a week-long cruise that stays for three nights at the Atlantic island. From the middle of that month, the ship then sails to Quebec and back on a series of 14 night cruises. Passengers can sail just in one direction on a seven night alternative that makes five ports of call including Portland Maine and Canada's Prince Edward Island. Three more Bermuda cruises follow until November, when the ship heads to its new home of Tampa where it spends the winter sailing seven night Western Caribbean cruises. The Norwegian Dawn makes four ports of call including Roatan Bay Island in the Honduras, Belize, Costa Maya and Cozumel Island in Mexico and then back to Florida.

Innovative, progressive and impossibly luxurious the Norwegian Dawn is Norwegian Cruise Line’s signature ship.

There is plenty to engage energetic holidaymakers aside from the ship's three swimming pools. A basketball and volleyball court, a jogging track, a lap pool, golf and table tennis are some of the attractions, which also include the El Dorado Fitness Centre which has a generous selection of exercise machines and classes from aerobics to yoga. There is a sauna and a steam room and five hot tubs on board. Sticking with the relaxation theme, there is also the El Dorado Spa which is a beauty salon offering a wide range of treatments. Retail therapy is also available at the Galleria shops, where passengers can buy whatever they may have forgotten to pack and the Port O Call, where toiletries and perfumes are sold.

The ship has plenty to keep children of all ages entertained. A dedicated dinosaur themed kid’s pool has a slide and hot tub. The Youth Centre is designed for toddlers with a jungle gym obstacle course. Older children can head to the Teen Club and play the jukebox, air hockey or table football. At night the club turns into a teen disco. The Norwegian Dawn also has a video games arcade.

This ship boasts the largest suites available on any ocean liner. The three bedroom garden villas can accommodate up to seven passengers. As well as the double bedrooms they have a living room, a dining room, a private garden and an outdoor dining area with a hot tub and terrace. The services of a butler are also included. Not every cabin is so vast but the choice of accommodation certainly is, promising something to suit every size family and budget.
There are 1,126 cabins on board, 511 of them have balconies and 250 offer an ocean view. Another 365 cabins are on the inside of the ship. The rooms are small but well-designed with clever storage space and stylish bathrooms. Eleven decks of luxurious accommodation, entertainment, recreation and fine food await passengers on a Norwegian Dawn cruise.

The dining options are such that passengers on a short cruise are unlikely to be able to sample every one of the different styles of food on board! The ship's main dining rooms are the Aqua, offering a daily menu that includes healthy choices, and the Venetian, a more traditional cruise ship setting in the style of a palazzo with crystal chandeliers and a sweeping staircase. The food served here can run into five courses and is provided as part of the price of the cruise. Other complimentary options includes the family friendly Garden and Kids Cafe, the Blue Lagoon 24-hour food court serving different dishes from burgers to stir fries, and the poolside Bimini Bar and Grill.
Additional options for a supplement include pan-Asian food served in Bamboo, Cagney's steak house and La Cucina Italian restaurant and Le Bistro French restaurant. There is a sushi and sashimi bar and a Japanese Hibachi restaurant. Room service is also available round the clock. The dress code is casual during the day and smart casual in the evenings. Optional formal nights require men to wear a dark suit or dinner suit and ladies to wear a cocktail dress.
