Why choose MSC Poesia?

Christened in Dover in April 2008 by MSC Cruises, The Poesia is the third of Italy-based MSC Cruises' four Musica-class vessels and MSC’s ‘very own poem to the sea’. In true MSC fashion, the ship boasts ultra modern technology and operates the latest eco-technology, doing its part for the environment. The Poesia, like many of the other ships in MSC’s fleet has a distinctly European feel and is suited to those looking for a luxurious cruising experience at a laid back pace.

Destinations and Itineraries

The MSC Poesia’s destinations offer beautiful sights and an abundance of culture. She tours a number of regions throughout the year including the Baltics, Northern Europe, The Med and South America. During the summer months MSC Poesia cruises Northern Europe, taking in the breathtaking majesty of the Norwegian fjords and the history and culture of the Baltic States. By the end of September this adventurous ship will be found touring the warmer waters of the Mediterranean stopping in Malaga, Lisbon and Casablanca. As winter takes a hold in Europe, MSC Poesia follows the sunshine for a winter season of 3 to 9 night South American cruises.

A ten day cruise in December sees The Poesia set sail on one of its South American tours, visiting Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, and the Brazilian ports of Buzios and Ilhabela - before stopping in Uruguay at the port of Punta del Este. Here guests can revel in the South American way of life and the natural beauty the continent has to offer, from Rio’s world famous Copacabana beach to the tropical island of Ilhabela with its tranquil streams and dazzling waterfalls.

On the 21st April, MSC Poesia heads back to Northern Europe, setting off on a 21 day transatlantic cruise from Buenos Aires to Copenhagen. After stopping in Brazil she is at sea for six days before reaching the Canary Islands. After departing the volcanic island of Lanzarote, the ship begins the final week of the cruise, stopping in Madeira, Vigo and The Belgian port of Zeebrugge before heading to her final destination in Copenhagen.

With an abundance of activities and just as many ways to relax, MSC’s Poesia is a top choice for an active cruise and anyone looking to experience some Italian flair and elegance. An informal atmosphere and friendly but unobtrusive service really sets the Poesia apart from other large ships, giving passengers a truly unique cruising experience.

On Board

The Poesia was built with grandness in mind but with a focus on tasteful exuberance, a different style to MSC’s smaller, more refined ships such as The Lirica. These grand features include a waterfall with bridges in the foyer, a Zen garden in the sushi bar and a 13,000 square foot spa. Passengers can cool down in any of the three swimming pools or maybe at the ice skating rink. There is certainly no shortage of entertainment on board, from the popular jaw-dropping variety shows at the Teatro Carlo Felice, to the Il Grapple D'Oro bar, where guests can relax with a glass of wine to the mellow sounds of the grand piano. For the younger passengers looking to dance the night away the S32 Disco is the place to be, with DJ’s spinning a variety of pop and hip-hop music set to a fresh and modern backdrop.

Staterooms

There is definitely no lack of luxury aboard The Poesia. There are a total of 1275 cabins on board, of which 827 have balconies and 173 have ocean views. Passengers can feel free to put their feet up in their spacious sitting room or even take a relaxing bubble bath. Other passenger cabins host those much-wanted amenities such as adequate storage, an in-closet safe and a mini-bar fridge. At full capacity, 3013 passengers can be found enjoying their time on the Poesia along side 987 crew, with a crew ratio of one to 3.1 passengers.

Dining

If sumptuous meals are a must then look no further. Food on board The Poesia is diverse in range and caters to all tastes. Dishes range from traditional Mediterranean fare, to the most refined international recipes. The ship offers two main restaurants, Il Palladio and Le Fontane and an à la Carte restaurant, L’Obelisco. For a quick lunch guests can dine at the Villa Pompeiana buffet restaurant offering the utmost quality and variety in Italian and international cuisine. For the more culinary adventurous, guests can dine at Poesia’s specialty restaurant, The Kaito Sushi bar where the master sushi chefs prepare delicious Japanese cuisine.
