This cruise line strikes the balance between setting sail in an elegant environment without it becoming stuffy or boring. That's why passengers of all ages come from all over Europe to cruise the Italian way.
The Fantasia is designed for continental tastes and also European destinations. Until November this year the ship offers Mediterranean cruises that last for seven nights and eight days on board. The route begins at the ancient maritime republic of Venice, adding the chance to see one of the world’s most romantic and beautiful tourist destinations.
Next stop is the Italian port of Bari and the southern end of the county before reaching Katakolo on the western coast of Greece. Once in Greek waters the ship tours some of the most celebrated of its thousand-plus islands including Santorini, with its whitewashed houses at the edge of the dramatic caldera volcano crater, evergreen Corfu in the Ionian Islands and the Athenian port of Piraeus. Other stops include the Croatian port of Dubrovnik, before returning to Venice.
At the end of the November the Fantasia's schedule is changed to accommodate longer cruises that explore more cities. A tour of Italy, Greece, Egypt and Israel in November is the first of several 12 day cruises with different itineraries that also tour the Canary Islands, Alexandria in Egypt, and the Israeli port of Haifa.
The Fantasia is a modern ship with modern facilities and this is reflected in the cabins' contemporary décor. There are 1,637 cabins on board and this colossal ship has been designed in such a way that the vast majority have a private balcony. Each has enough storage space for a one or two week cruise and all cabins are equipped with an interactive flat screen TV, with at least one channel in English and another which features information about the ship and its destinations.
Other essentials include a minibar, safe, air conditioning, a radio and 24-hour room service. Bathrooms have a reasonably sized shower. On the top deck the Yacht Club suites have a butler service and each cabin has a separate sitting area and the all bathrooms have a bathtub.
Having worked off the calories, passengers have several options as to how to pile them all back on. There are two grand dining rooms on board that cater for all passengers in two sittings. Although busy, the service is efficient and very friendly. More intimate dining experiences are available in the Tex Mex restaurant, with its rustic décor and open kitchen, a French a la carte restaurant, a pizzeria, a wine bar and a cafeteria that serves hot food throughout the day.
