Here’s a list of some of our favourite and best airports around the world…
London Heathrow Airport – London, UK
Heathrow may seem like a hectic and fast-paced environment, which is no surprise considering it is the busiest airport in both the UK and Europe and one of the busiest in the world… But see past the chaos and the airport actually has everything that you could possibly want to get your holiday off on the right foot. Heathrow has in fact been awarded the title of World’s Best Airport Shopping and World’s Best Terminal for Terminal 5, which opened in 2008.
Samui International Airport – Koh Samui, Thailand
Samui Airport in Thailand is by far one of the world’s most beautiful. Unlike other airports in exotic locations, Samui doesn’t stick out as an eye-sore. Instead, it has been designed in such a way to keep in tune with its tropical and natural surroundings. What makes the airport so unique is that the entire place is out in the open, except for the gift shop. Take time before your flight to stroll up and down Samui Park Avenue – the airport’s outdoor promenade. This beats indoor duty-frees any day!
Amsterdam Airport Schipol – Amsterdam, Netherlands
Whilst waiting for a flight, passengers at Amsterdam’s Schipol Airport can make the most of their time by splashing some cash at the casino, relaxing with a good book in the airport library or relaxing a bit more with a soothing massage. If none of this appeals to you, simply kick back and unwind on one of the incredibly inviting reclined departure lounge chairs! The airport also boasts excellent dining and shopping options.
Vancouver International Airport – Vancouver, Canada
Vancouver International Airport in Canada has been named as the best airport in North America for the fifth year in a row and ninth overall in the world. The airport isn’t as busy as some of the world’s other top players, but it is clean efficiently run and has won awards for the quality of its staff. The airport is full of Pacific Northwest Coast native art has a group of volunteers known as the Green Coat Ambassadors who help people with any queries they may have whilst travelling through.
Singapore Changi Airport – Singapore
Singapore’s Changi Airport is designed to alleviate the stress of
travel and has been voted the world’s best airport for the second year in a row. Terminal 3 is known as the ‘green’ terminal, featuring natural skylighting and lush gardens with over 200 different types of foliage. It also has the world’s first butterfly garden within an airport, its own movie theatre, a rooftop pool and countless shopping and dining experiences.
