Where is Hot in March?

For many of us, the stress of the Christmas build-up mixed with winter’s wet and miserable weather can all get a bit too much. Yes, we have Christmas Day and New Year to look forward to, but then what? The idea of waiting until summer for a much needed holiday doesn’t even bear thinking about. You need something sooner to look forward to, right? I know I do. So how does a holiday in March sound?

“But where is hot in March?” I hear you ask. Don’t be fooled into thinking that beach holidays are only for the summer. Take a look below at my top 5 destinations that are hot and sunny and perfect for March holidays.

1) Cuba – Average high in March: 28˚C

Cuba is an excellent choice for some winter sun, offering long haul luxury at an affordable cost. The great thing about Cuba is you can combine a traditional beach holiday with a cultural city break. So why not head to the stunning white beaches of Varadero and include a trip to the historic city of Havana while you’re there. The average temperature in March is 23˚C, but it can reach highs of 28˚C.


2) Cape Verde – Average high in March: 25

Dubbed Africa’s answer to the Caribbean, you’re guaranteed to be basking in warm sunshine in Cape Verde, no matter what time of year you choose to visit. During the month of March, you can expect temperatures to be anywhere between 23 and 25˚C, perfect for relaxing on one of the pristine, sandy beaches. If you prefer a bit more adventure, Cape Verde has a welcome sea breeze, making it great for water sports.


3) Mexico – Average high in March: 30

5) Cyprus – Average high in March: 19˚C

Cyprus enjoys mild winters, which are perfect for discovering the island as it can get incredibly hot in the height of summer. You can expect highs of 19˚C in March, but don’t be surprised if it creeps even higher. Paphos is a great resort to head to at this time of year, as you can make the most of all the waterfront cafés, before taking a stroll along the coast and exploring ancient sites such as the impressive Tombs of the Kings.
