Where is Hot in February?

Now the excitement of the festive season is over for another year, you'll be in desperate need of something to cheer you up and look forward to. There's no need to wait until summer for a much-needed dose of sunshine. Instead, why not ditch the cold, winter mornings and treat yourself to a nice little bit of winter sun this coming February. Take a look below at my top picks of where's hot in February. And let's face it; going on holiday is much more fun than trying to keep up your New Year's resolutions!

1) St. Lucia – Average highs of 27⁰C in February

Stunning St. Lucia boasts both breath-taking scenery and incredible beaches, making it one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean. You’ll find excellent year-round temperatures, with average highs of around 27⁰C in the month of February. St. Lucia is an ideal destination for everybody from families to honeymooners, so head here and make the most of a sunset cruise along the coast by the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Les Pitons; the island’s famous twin peaks.

2) Dominican Republic – Average highs of 29⁰C in February

If you’re looking for a Caribbean escape with a strong Latin flavour, the Dominican Republic offers a vibrant, colourful atmosphere, sure to give you the perfect break from the cold and miserable weather back at home. Temperatures in February are an incredibly warm 29⁰C, just right for soaking up some winter sun in the popular resorts of Punta Cana or Puerto Plata. Be sure to catch one of the island’s amazing sunsets at the end of the day.

3) Tenerife – Average highs of 19⁰C in February

Head to the popular and biggest Canary Island of Tenerife and you can spend your time exploring beautiful beaches with the famous black, volcanic sand, whilst enjoying pleasant temperatures that rarely drop below 19⁰C. Aside from exploring the great outdoors, head to one of the island’s famous theme parks. Make a splash at the water kingdom that is Siam Park or watch the impressive orcas and dolphins put on a show for you at Loro Parque.

4) Lanzarote – Average highs of 21⁰C in February

One of Tenerife’s neighbours in the Canary Islands, Lanzarote enjoys year-round sunshine and February temperatures tend to be around the 21⁰C mark. Lanzarote is the perfect size to explore the entire island on your visit, so sort yourself a car hire and visit some of the beautiful resorts of Playa Blanca, Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise. Be sure to also head to the famous Fire Mountains of Timanfaya National Park and take a camel round around the volcanic landscapes.

5) Mexico – Average highs of 28⁰C in February

If you want sun, sand, culture and great food in the winter, then Mexico, with its average high temperatures of around 28⁰C in February is a great option. Mexico offers the perfect blend of beaches and ancient history, meaning you can spend your time swimming in the crystal clear waters of Cancun and Tulum or if you’d prefer something a little more traditional, explore some of the country’s ancient Mayan ruins such as the world famous Chichen Itza.
