Ready for a bit of retail therapy? We’ve got a quick guide to Alanya Turkey shopping for you, so you can get the most out of every shopping trip. This stunning coastal town is a shopaholics paradise. Whether you fancy wandering around a traditional market or prefer browsing high-end boutiques, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Plus, there are tons of stylish malls dotted around just waiting to be explored.
With all that in mind, let’s dive into some of the best places to shop in Alanya.
Shopping in Alanya
Head over to Cuma Bazaars, found around the port and the Atatürk Main Road, home to Alanya’s busiest shopping district. Here you can source beautiful gifts and souvenirs, many of which are handcrafted by the locals. If you love pretty things you’re in the right place, as there’s an abundance of charming jewellery and textiles for you to check out.
There’s nothing better than going on a relaxing shopping trip around the Turkish beach town of Alanya. However, you do need to have your wits about you as not everything is always as it seems. Our top tip: if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. If they’re only charging £15 for a pair of designer shoes, they’re probably not the real deal. Or, if the piece costs the earth but doesn’t have that quality you’d expect, then again, our advice is to walk away.
As with any crowded place, while you wander around Alanya’s shopping district, keep your possessions close to you at all times. Our advice is to keep your wallet in an inside pocket rather than your back pocket, and you should be fine.
If you don’t fancy haggling with store owners, head over to a shop called the ‘Passage’, located in Alanya’s shopping district. This is a fabulous clothing store where they stock gorgeous fashions for women, men, and children. They’re also one of the few places where tourists don’t have to negotiate on price. Just like shops in the UK, everything’s labelled at a fixed rate, so there’s no need to stress about whether you’re getting good value for money.
Alternatively, if you fancy a more scenic shopping experience, go for a gentle stroll along the harbour. There are plenty of shops scattered around here, as well as cafés and restaurants boasting great menus and gorgeous views of the sea and mountains. Be sure to take your camera with you, as you’ll definitely want to capture these stunning surroundings.
Alanya shopping mall
If you’d prefer to shop in a more conventional-style mall, then the Deepo Outlet is a good choice. Here you can find almost everything you could possibly need. This shopping plaza boasts an area as large as 75,000 square meters and claims to be the biggest shopping outlet in the whole of the Mediterranean.
Alternatively, visit the Megamall Shopping and Entertainment Centre. It’s home to both independent stores and global chains, plus as the name suggests they offer tons of entertainment facilities, so it’s a good choice if you’ve got the kids with you. You’ll find everything here from fashion brands to grocery stalls, electronics shops and homeware, as well as a good selection of restaurants and cafés when you need to take a much-needed break to recharge before hitting the shops again.
Shopping in Alanya wouldn’t be complete without visiting one of their traditional bazaars. For hundreds of years, these markets have played a fundamental part in the everyday lives of the Turks, so it’s a good opportunity to see how the locals live too.
Head over to Alanya Bazaar to see the biggest and the best market the city has to offer. It covers five streets that overlap with one another. Here you’ll find plenty of locally made goods including high-quality jewellery, souvenirs, clothes, and shoes.
If you get a bit peckish, there’s plenty of opportunities to sample traditional Turkish food. Choose from reasonably priced fresh, organic fruits and vegetables, most of which have been grown and produced in the villages surrounding Alanya.
One of the best things about the Alanya Bazaar is that every time you visit, you’ll find something new. Villagers produce new items every week, so with every visit you’re bound to find a hidden gem.
The bazaar is ideally located close to the centre of the town, and is easily accessible, even if you have limited mobility. This is just another reason why this market’s the perfect place for both tourists and locals to shop. In addition to all the open-air stalls, there are plenty of small shops open for business. It doesn’t matter what you need to buy, we’re pretty sure you’ll find it here. All in all, this Alanya market is one that certainly won’t disappoint.
