Best for beaches: Majorca
You’ll find all kinds of amazing beach destinations dotted around Spain’s sun-soaked coastline, but the island of Majorca is one of the main highlights. As well as pretty resorts like Cala Bona, Alcudia and Sa Coma, the island is brimming with secret coves and beautiful hidden beaches, ready and waiting for you to discover.
Best for families: Benidorm
You’ll find bustling Benidorm on the Costa Blanca, down on the south-eastern coast, and we still think it’s one of the best resorts in Spain for families. As well as sandy beaches, this place is brimming with family-friendly nightlife, fun-filled waterparks and a zoo that the little ones will just love.
Best for couples: Madrid
The cosmopolitan capital is one of the best places in Spain for a holiday with your loved one. You’ll love strolling arm and arm through the bustling streets and spending the day in art galleries and museums. Make your way down to Retiro Park, where you can sunbathe or rent a rowing boat and take a trip across the lake. When the sun goes down, it’s time to head for a candlelit tapas restaurant and treat yourself to a romantic meal for two.
Best for history buffs: Granada
Otherwise known as ‘the land of the castles’, Granada is home to incredible examples of medieval architecture that date back all the way back to the Moorish occupation. The Alhambra is one of them; this breath-taking hilltop fortress complex, complete with a palace and stunning gardens, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The stunning Sierra Nevada mountains provide a dramatic backdrop and views you won’t forget in a hurry.
For budding explorers: Lanzarote
In addition to popular beach resorts and water sports galore, the island of Lanzarote is home to a wealth of spectacular volcanic landscapes, ready and waiting for you to explore. Make your way to Timanfaya National Park to see the island’s famous Fire Mountains for yourself; it’s an absolute must-visit for anyone visiting this volcanic island, and it really is one of the best places to visit in Spain.
Best for night owls: Ibiza
If you’re a big clubbing fan, we don’t need to tell you that Ibiza is one of the best places to go in Spain for a night out. You’ll be free to relax on the white-sand beaches during the day, and when the sun goes down, it’s time to get down to one of the island’s superclubs. Whether it’s Pacha or Amnesia, night owls will be spoilt for choice on this party island.
