The exquisite island of Bermuda is a 21-square-mile pink sand paradise and can be found in the warm North Atlantic Ocean, off the east coast of America. Exotic sea life, swaying palm trees, 30°C heat and sandy shores are just some of the reasons why the island has been added to our luxurious Signature destinations.
Relax in Paradise
Unwind in the breathtakingly beautiful Bermuda setting and visit the iconic Horseshoe Bay for pink sand, dramatic rock formations and a coastline of crystal clear waves. The pastel sand is a result of crushed shells and coral washed up from the sea. With a number of spectacular beaches, it’s no wonder American writer, Mark Twain, compared Bermuda to heaven.
Bermuda’s upbeat character
As soon as you step onto the island you’ll be warmly welcomed, as the residents are notoriously friendly. If you’re lucky, you may get to meet the beloved Jonny Barnes who is Bermuda’s self-appointed Good Will Ambassador. He’s spent every morning for the last 20 years outside near the main road, waving and greeting the early drivers and visitors. The 92 year old Happy Man is looking to go into retirement so if you miss him, you can visit the statue that was created in his honor.
Discover the history
Bermuda is rich in history and colonial heritage, and its roots can be explored in the old capital of St. George. This important trade port was one of the first English towns established in North America, which resulted in it being named as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the decorative Town Hall, Navy port and the island’s oldest stone building, the Old State House.
The island is full of extraordinary activities to experience, like descending deep underground to explore the spellbinding Crystal caves. Two young boys first discovered the magnificent rock formations and crystals back in 1907 and today, you can take a guided tour through the tunnels and caverns to see the beauty that lies below ground level.
The clear blue waters around the island are dotted with coral reef’s, and are alive with vibrant parrotfish, turtles and other sea life. Snorkel or scuba dive to see the spectacular underwater world, or paddle through the rolling waves in a clear bottomed kayak to see the iconic Vixen shipwreck in all its splendor.
