If you’re reading this, you must be planning a holiday! Exciting, isn’t it? Problem is, there are so many little details to decide on that sometimes it can feel overwhelming. I get it, I’ve been there, and it can be hard to know where to start. So, let’s get one simple thing off your to-do list right now: ‘should I book seats for my flight?’
What is Choose Your Seat?
First up, what exactly is our Choose Your Seat service? Well, it’s your chance to reserve your seats on your Thomas Cook Airlines plane before you even go anywhere near the airport; right up until 48 hours before your flight. It’s a really easy way to reassure yourself that you’ll have room for your long legs or a seat next to the window for that first glimpse of your destination when you’re coming in to land.
Aisle or window?
When you use the Choose Your Seat seating map, you can pick the exact seat you want, whether you’re an aisle-lover like me (I hate having to ask people to move when I pop to the loo), want to sit between two of your favourite people or like to have control of the window blind.
Some seats on our planes have more space in front of them, meaning you get more legroom. These are really popular, so don’t leave it too long if you’re keen to have one. Taller people in particular find them more comfortable, and I really like them for stretching out if my knees get stiff from sitting for so long.
Travelling as a large group
If there are lots of you going on holiday together, it can be a lot of fun to all sit near each other on the plane. Guess what? Choose Your Seat is your new best friend! Add it to your booking and you can pick a block of seats together so you can get the holiday atmosphere going early, or make it last until you arrive home.
What happens if you don’t Choose Your Seat?
No-one likes a boarding scramble, so I was really pleased to find out that if you don’t use our Choose Your Seat service, you’ll still be allocated a seat; phew! Thomas Cook Airlines will pick your seats for you on your departure day, or when you check in online. It’s done automatically by the check-in system, which is set up to seat everyone on your booking together as best we can, using the remaining seats that are available. We don’t deliberately separate people, though we can’t guarantee you’ll be together (apart from making sure under 12’s are seated with at least one adult from their group).
How to book Choose Your Seat
If you’re flying in the Premium cabin on a long-haul flight or book Economy Plus, Choose Your Seat is already included in your fare. Otherwise, it’s really easy to add to your booking. You can either do it when you book or later on, and we’ve even made Choose Your Seat available as part of a discount bundle with your in-flight meals and an extra 5kg of hold luggage.
So there you have it; all the info you need to help you get the right seats for you on your flights with Thomas Cook Airlines.
Have you used our Choose Your Seat service before? Or maybe you haven’t but you’re now sold on it? I’d love to know what you think!
