There’s no better way to enjoy the sun than with a trip to a water park. Whether you’re after exhilarating water slides, a treat for the kids, or a chance to sit back, relax, and catch up with the book that’s gripped you all holiday by the pool; there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
There are two main waterparks in Malta. Both provide hours of fun for the whole family to enjoy. Let’s explore each of them in a little more detail.
Splash and Fun Waterpark
Located near the coast next to Mediterraneo Marine Park, adjacent to the White Rocks, you’ll enjoy a fun packed day at Splash and Fun Waterpark. It’s the perfect activity if you’re looking for family-friendly things to do on your holiday. From tiny tots to grown-ups, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
There are several salt water swimming pools. Find one that suits your tastes; it’s the perfect opportunity to savour a quick dip or do a couple of lengths to work off the delicious Maltese food you’ve been indulging in all week.
One of these pools boasts a range of diving boards. Do you dare to jump from the tallest one? These are great fun if you’ve never attempted a dive before.
If water slides are more your scene, there are loads to choose from. If you’re an adrenaline junkie, you’re in luck, because many of them will give you the rush you’re after. Their most famous ride is called the ‘Sidewinder’, as the name aptly suggests you’ll enjoy the thrill of a near vertical drop as you then hurtle up and down the sides of the U shaped slide. This ride is only for the truly brave. Perhaps the Black Hole or the Kamikaze have you intrigued. Either way, you’re bound to enjoy shooting down these exciting flumes.
Alternatively, you can head to the giant wave pool and enjoy splashing in the currents. Watch out, some of these waves get pretty big; which makes it all the more fun.
Perhaps you’re in need of a bit of rest and relaxation? If so, take a ride down the lazy river as you gently meander down the stream in a blow-up doughnut.
There are also plenty of comfortable deck chairs at your disposal, right by the Mediterranean Sea. These stunning views aren’t to be missed; they provide the perfect backdrop for topping up your tan.
What about food?
There’s a snack bar on site, which sells plenty of delicious treats that’ll have you re-energised and ready to hit the flumes again in no time at all. Over there you can buy delicious snacks including baguettes, salads, pizza, and wraps.
Or, perhaps you’d fancy booking a place at one of their BBQ nights. What could be better than yummy food and water rides? You can expect a menu including a selection of cold antipasti for starters. Then, for mains, you’ll enjoy a variety of pasta salads, fresh salads, potatoes, grilled pork, beef, fish, and ribs.
Bugibba Waterpark
This is the smaller out of the two Malta waterparks. If you have younger children (between four and eight) and want to kill an hour or two, then Bugibba Water Park is the ideal place to take them to enjoy a fun-filled treat.
Located close to the promenade towards the eastern end of town, it’s pretty hard to miss. The boat-shaped play area stands proudly and provides everything your kids could want to have a fantastic time. From shooting water cannons at each other to jumping over spouts of water, and standing under the bucket tower, they’re bound to enjoy themselves.
Once you head inside, you’ll notice there are different coloured zones. These indicate the different sections designated to various age groups. This is ideal if you have smaller children because it’s safer for them to join in the fun. It’s less likely that any bigger kids will accidentally knock over your little ones by mistake.
There’s plenty of space for parents to watch their kids from around the edge. Not to worry, there are loads of shady spots for you to rest and cool off. There’s also a few cafés conveniently located nearby. Here you can grab a coffee or an ice cream as you enjoy a well-deserved break from entertaining the kids.
The waterparks in Malta certainly won’t disappoint. However, Bugibba Waterpark is only appropriate if you have smaller children, whereas, Splash and Fun is the perfect day out for all ages. With that in mind, you should be able to pick the best day out for your family so you all have the best time during your holiday in Malta.
