Top Resorts and Hotels
Quite simply, Las Vegas hotels are out of this world. The most famous resorts are definitely the Bellagio, Caesar’s Palace, the Venetian and MGM Grand. The newly developed CityCenter is also worth exploring – you’ll find Aria, the Mandarin Oriental, Vdara and Crystals all within its mirrored walls.
The Bellagio is right in the heart of the Strip and is most well-known for its light and fountain performances. You’ll also find a Cirque du Soleil show, themed botanical gardens and a Gallery of Fine Art.
Next door, Caesar’s Palace is most commonly known for the wolf pack’s suite in The Hangover, and is certainly a luxury choice. With almost 4,000 rooms spread across 6 towers, Caesar’s is also home to Pure nightclub, a concert-hall Colosseum, a forum full of shops and the Garden of the Gods pools.
Just a few doors down is the Venetian, an Italian-style casino with winding canals throughout the resort. Jump into a gondola and you’ll be whisked away by a singing gondolier who’ll steer you through the watery wonderland.
The MGM Grand is for those seeking something bigger and better. It’s the largest hotel resort complex in USA, with several hotels within one. Marked by a huge gold lion statue out the front, the MGM Grand actually houses the real-life versions inside their glass-window habitat. You’ll also find the A-list Wet Republic Ultra pool parties, the David Copperfield show, CSI: The Experience, and award-winning restaurants.
Attractions and Things To Do
What isn’t there to do in Vegas?! Each casino and hotel hosts a variety of attractions – visit Vegas’ version of Coney Island and ride the roller coaster at New York-New York, shop the Miracle Mile of stores in Planet Hollywood, dine amongst music legends at the Hard Rock Café and take in the view from Las Vegas’ own Eiffel Tower in Paris Las Vegas. If that wasn’t enough, you can witness a mammoth volcano explode at the Mirage, walk underneath razor-toothed sharks at Mandalay Bay, and of course, try your luck at roulette, blackjack, poker and the slots at every casino along the way.
For a break from the glitz and glamour of the Strip, you can always take a day trip out to the majestic Grand Canyon to help you get a grip on reality.
Annual Temperature and Rainfall
Las Vegas lies in the middle of the Mojave Desert, and can reach a searing-hot 40C+ temperatures in summer. Winters are short and mild, with snow sometimes appearing on the surrounding mountains. Rain is extremely rare – instead the city enjoys around 340 days of sunshine a year.
