You’ll be forgiven for thinking that, on clicking the link to read this blog, you’ll be reading about the southward travels of a flock of flying geese, but I have to say you’re very much mistaken. Goose Island Migration Week is completely different to what it sounds like and is, in fact, all about a festival dedicated to a type of carefully brewed craft beer.
Goose Island is actually a beer company based in Chicago in the United States. It was started back in 1988 when founder, John Hall, was on a trip across Europe, sampling all the different styles and tastes of the excellent beers you can find across the continent. He was determined to create something just as good back in the USA, so that’s when Goose Island was born.
Since then, the Goose Island Beer Co. has gone from strength to strength, with its brewery opening in 1995 and still continuing to grow in size today. And as the success of its beer continues to grow, so too does its following. The brewery may be based out of Chicago, but they’ve still found a way to take their beers to all the different parts of the USA and even Europe. This is what they now call Goose Island Migration Week.
Goose Island Migration Week is when the brewery heads out on the road with their brewers, their bus and their beer. It gives people the chance to go along, meet the team, make some friends and, of course, drink the popular varieties of Goose Island beer. It’s a way of educating all their fans on what goes into the beer’s production process and features plenty of exciting activities for punters to take part in. It’s proving to be a hugely popular event, not just in America, but across the globe too. So why not get involved?
If you’re into your craft beers and you’re heading off on holiday to America or on a European city break any time soon, you should definitely see if one of the events is taking place near you. They’re everywhere from New York and Los Angeles to Tampa and Houston or closer to home in London, Amsterdam, Paris and Rome. There’s even a Goose Island Migration Week in Mexico in August, if a Mexico holiday is something you’ve always dreamed about.
