It feels very much like our short spell of hot weather is already over. So, if you haven’t booked anywhere to go on holiday yet, fret not: there’s still time to escape to somewhere warmer. To help you out, I’ve pulled together a list of the cheapest places to go on a family break this summer. Sometimes it seems impossible to find a getaway to keep everyone happy without parting with a lot of cash, but trust me, it can be done! Take a look below at my top picks for cheap family holidays: you could be on that plane before you know it.
If you’re looking for a cheap family holiday this summer, Turkey is truly your one-stop-shop. It’s home to some of the most fantastic All Inclusive hotels in the world, many of which come with their own waterparks, like Liberty Hotels Lykia in Olu Deniz: now that’s sure to keep the kids out of trouble! There’s also miles of beautiful coastline, bags of history and has stunning weather for most of the year, so you could even take a break in October half term; what more could you want?
With several different islands to explore as well as all the different resorts on the mainland, a cheap family holiday to Greece is easy to come by. If you want to introduce the kids to something more authentic, stay at a Manos hotel. They pride themselves on local know-how and warm hospitality at affordable prices. Why not take the little ones on a day out to Laganas Beach in Zante to see the turtles, or spend the day building sandcastles on the Blue Flag Beaches on the Olympus Riviera? The choice is yours!
For a real adventure this summer, take your family on a holiday to Tunisia. It’s a place bursting with brand new sights, sounds and smells which are sure to capture your imagination as well as keep the kids entertained. The beautiful turquoise coastline is warm and shallow, making it the perfect place to paddle for little legs. The hotels are also of an incredible standard, while the local town of Hammamet has managed to keep all its charm as an ancient fishing village for a unique day out.
When it comes to the perfect package of sun, sand and sea, the Canary Islands can’t be beaten for a cheap family holiday. Found just off the west coast of Africa, great weather’s near enough guaranteed thanks to the warm winds which blow in from the Sahara Desert. A day out to Siam Park waterpark in Tenerife will help keep the little ones cool or you can head into the wilderness on Fuerteventura’s sand dunes: the family-friendly cities in the Canaries will definitely feel like a home-from-home in the sun.
Although Egypt might seem worlds away from Britain, it’s only about a five hour flight to experience this uniquely beautiful land. The hotels are known for being grand and luxurious, which is why it might surprise you that they’ve made my cheap family holiday list! There’s lots to do here for families: when I went to Hurghada I snorkelled along the coastline and I couldn’t recommend it enough. If you’d rather stay out of the water, you can still admire all the wildlife on a glass bottom boat tour.
