Spending time with friends always makes us feel happier, doesn’t it? If like me, you’re sometimes left wishing you could spend more time with them, then this is the perfect excuse to book a holiday together.Did you know today’s International Friends Day? There’s no better time than right now to jet off and spend your summer evenings on the beach with your besties. If you want to make memories that’ll last a lifetime, follow my list of the best things you can do on holidays with your friends.
Who doesn’t like a catch up with friends over a lovely glass of wine or two? Take it to the next level and go on a wine tasting excursion. You might be surprised to know Lanzarote produces award-winning wines from its black volcanic soil. You can visit three stunning vineyards and learn about the unique winemaking process while sipping on a few glasses. If you’re really serious about wine, why not spend a day in the life of a wine producer in Portugal’s Douro Valley. You’ll get to know all there is to know about wine production, even having a go at grape stomping! Now that’s sure to raise a few giggles.
Dance at a music festival
If you don’t fancy donning your wellies and raincoat for a muddy field in the UK, why not head abroad to a festival instead? Just think, you could be listening to your favourite bands with a cold cider in hand in the sunshine. Annie Mac’s Lost & Found Festival takes place over four days on the Mediterranean island of Malta and features boat parties, pool parties and DJ sets in the spectacular setting of an ancient castle. Last year, I combined a festival with a city break and went to Beniccassim Festival. Situated between Barcelona and Valencia, I danced around in the sand to Bastille and the Killers.
Make a splash at a waterpark
It’s not just kids and teens that enjoy a day out at a waterpark, it can be a fantastic experience with your friends. You’ll have plenty of laughs and make tons of memories as you ride in river rapids, race each other down the racer waterslides and find out who is the bravest in your bunch to tackle the extreme rides. WaterWorld Waterpark in Cyprus is a huge Greek-inspired attraction with every kind of waterslide you could want. There’s a wave pool, river rapid, splash pools for tots and then thrillers such as the Drop To Atlantis featuring sounds, lights and twists and turns that’ll have your heart in your mouth.
Shop ‘til you drop
Bagging a bargain feels great, but it’s even better when you can share it with your friends. That’s why a shopping trip abroad is always something to look forward to. Plus, you’ll be able to fit in some sightseeing at the same time. Save up your pennies for a big blow out in the famous department stores and designer brands of New York’s 5th Avenue. If you’re on a tighter budget, head to the NoLita district to explore cute one-of-a-kind boutiques. Follow in the footsteps of the ‘Sex and the City’ ladies and shop in Greenwich Village; it has a cool bohemian feel and the shops to match.
