With its year-round sunshine, countless sandy beaches and excellent attractions to keep the whole family entertained, it’s no wonder Tenerife is such a popular holiday destination. The largest of the Canary Islands, it’s got all the ingredients for the perfect holiday in the sun. With such good weather, it could be easy to stay by the pool all day. But for those of you looking for a bit of action and adventure, here are five of the top things to do in Tenerife.
1) Siam Park
You can’t possibly go on holiday to Tenerife without spending the day at Siam Park while you’re there. This Thai-themed water park is one of the biggest and best in Europe, if not the world, and is sure to give you some of the best thrills and spills you’ve ever experienced.
2) Teide National Park
Right at the heart of Tenerife is Teide National Park. Exploring its lush, green landscape is a great experience for anyone, not just adventurous types. At the centre of the park, and the island in fact, is Mount Teide. It’s well worth climbing it to take in the incredible panoramic views from the top.
It’s hard to pinpoint any one beach; there are so many good ones. You’ll find different beaches to suit everyone’s tastes. There’s plenty of buzz going on at the beaches on the island’s south coast. Or for something a little more peaceful, visit the stunning, black sand beaches along the north.
4) Loro Parque
Easily one of the most popular attractions in the whole of Tenerife, Loro Parque is a firm favourite with all who visit. It’s a world-famous attraction thanks to its impressive collection of tropical parrots, as well as hundreds of other endangered animals. You’re bound to love it here.
5) La Gomera
Take a boat over to the beautiful island of La Gomera and explore its national park. The smallest of the seven Canary Islands; it’s covered in picturesque trails for you to follow and is practically untouched compared to its neighbours. Be sure to visit the dramatic beach at Puerto de Santiago.
