We have a number of new and exciting destinations for you to experience, so I thought it’s only right that I give you a bit more information about each of them. And today it’s the turn of Mykonos; Greece’s answer to glitz and glam. Read on to get the low down on this luxurious Greek island.
What’s the vibe in Mykonos?
Despite being the smallest of the Cyclades Islands, it has plenty to offer and is often referred to as being a Greek St. Tropez. Think white-washed buildings, golden beaches and upmarket bars and clubs and you’ll get an idea of what to expect on Mykonos holidays.
The day times are all about exploring the island or chilling out on the stunning beaches; whether that be the secluded ones on the north coast or the livelier, more active ones on the southern shores. Then as evening falls, the lavish bars and clubs play host to the island’s glamorous party lifestyle.
What are the top things to do in Mykonos?
Your time spent in Mykonos can be as relaxing or active as you make it. The island boasts some incredible beaches to while away your days on, such as the ones at Elia, Platys Gialos and Ornos; to name but a few. But there are plenty of quaint fishing villages and historical sites to explore too. Here are some other highlights that aren’t to be missed when on holiday here:
- Learn about the island’s rich history at the Archaeological Site of Delos
- Head to the iconic windmills and capture some memorable holiday snaps
- Indulge in a bit of retail therapy on Matoyianni Street in Mykonos Town
- Pay a visit to the Mykonos Vioma Organic Farm & Vineyard and enjoy some authentic Greek tipple
- Keep your eyes peeled for Petros the famous pelican who roams the island
Who are Mykonos holidays perfect for?
The vibrant nightlife that Mykonos Town is so famous for makes this holiday destination incredibly popular with couples and groups. And did I mention celebrities too? Have your selfie stick at the ready as you do a bit of star spotting.
However, there are other resorts throughout the island that are ideal for families looking to spend some quality time together. In particular, the resort of Ornos has everything you could possibly need for an unforgettable holiday in the Greek sun; a huge range of shops and restaurants, plus an excellent beach.
