Egypt’s Red Sea resorts are full of countless luxurious hotels; you’ll find it hard to drag yourself away from your pool’s sun loungers! But there are so many fantastic activities and excursions to experience in the area that you’d be mad not to venture out and about on your Red Sea holiday.
Here are just some of the great Red Sea activities on offer to you during your Egypt holiday. Whether you’re looking for a bit of adventure, the chance to explore or just the perfect way to relax, there’s something to suit everybody’s tastes!
Two of the most popular places to head to and explore are the country’s capital, Cairo, and the ancient city of Luxor.
In Cairo, you can visit the world famous Egyptian Museum with its many artefacts of King Tutankhamen, but the main attraction in the city has to be the Great Pyramid of Giza. Gaze in awe at the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Just how did they build them? In Luxor, you can visit such breath-taking historical sites as the Temple of Karnak, Hatshepsut’s Temple and the impressive Valley of the Kings, where you can even view the mummy of King Tutankhamen.
It is possible to fly to Cairo from both Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada or by coach from Hurghada. You can also fly to Luxor from Sharm El Sheikh, but can travel by coach from Hurghada. It’s also possible to do private tours to both from Hurghada or an overnight stay in Cairo.
If you’re staying in Sharm el Sheikh, some other great places to explore include Ras Mohammed National Park and Tiran Island, where you can snorkel and see some incredible reef life. Alternatively, you can stay closer to home and enjoy a Sharm city tour or an excursion to experience the local market madness.
From Hurghada, you can get out and explore the crystal clear Red Sea on a glass bottom boat tour or for the budding photographers among you; you can head out on a photo tour. And for those who really want to get a taste of the Egyptian culture, you can go on a 2 day tour including Denderrah, Luxor and a Nile cruise.
Egypt offers a whole host of activities for adrenaline junkies to sink their teeth into. Make a splash at Sharm El Sheikh’s first themed waterpark, Cleo Park, or at Hurghada’s awesome Jungle Aqua Park.
For something a bit more fast-paced, you can test your go karting skills in Sharm El Sheikh or quad bikes, speed devils and a desert adventure in Hurghada. But what happens if you can’t decide which activity to choose? Not a problem! If you’re staying in Sharm El Sheikh, you can book yourself on to an adult only Mega Safari and combine four of the most popular activities into one action-packed, fun-filled day! Start the day with quad biking, ride a camel and enjoy an authentic Bedouin tea in the desert before lunch, then travel to the beach and take part in some awesome water sports in the afternoon.
If you want to take to the seas for your holiday adventures, book yourself on to an authentic pirate boat trip from Sharm or witness dolphins in the wild on a dolphin safari from Hurghada. Get in amongst the action by snorkelling or scuba diving amongst the coral and colourful sea life at the majority of Red Sea resorts – Camel Scuba in Sharm El Sheikh is a great choice if you want to try scuba diving for the first time.
If you’re keen to get up close and personal with a school of tropical fish but prefer to stay dry, delve amongst the waves in an actual submarine! Try Seascope Submarine in Sharm or Sinbad Submarine in Hurghada for a fantastic underwater experience.
If you just want to relax and enjoy your time away without breaking out in a sweat (unless of course it’s weather related!), then there are still plenty of opportunities to do so with our range of relaxing excursions where you can just kick-back and soak up the sun and local atmosphere, as well as maybe enjoying a well-earned drink. After all, it’s hard work being on holiday!
In the day time, embark on a perfect boat trip to while away your day and take in the sights and sounds of the Red Sea coast. Sharm El Sheikh offers the fantastic Sharm Golden boat trip and Hurghada offers a trip to the stunning island of Mahmya or you might prefer to sail on a luxury catamaran around Makadi Bay.
In the evening, let your hair down and indulge in all inclusive nights, social nights and meal deals in Sharm El Sheikh or treat yourself to some retail therapy and a great meal at the Hard Rock Café in Hurghada on the Shop and Rock excursion.
