A close neighbour of Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah is the northernmost Emirate of the UAE, unspoilt by tourism and stunning in every way. Often just shortened to RAK, I can forgive you if you’ve never heard of this place before, as it’s actually a relatively new one to me too. But the more I see of RAK, the more I’m enticed by its culture, charm and beauty; putting it high up on my list of places to visit.
Take a look at this amazing selection of photos below to find out a bit more about Ras Al Khaimah and decide for yourself if you’ll be adding it to your list too.
The resort of Ras Al Khaimah is lined with 64 kilometres of golden, sandy beaches and most luxury hotels have their own incredible private beaches and natural lagoons too. Water sports are popular in RAK, but you might prefer to just relax and unwind in your own private beach cabana.
Culture and heritage
Relatively untouched by tourism and still maintaining its traditional Arabian heritage and charm, there’s plenty to learn about RAK’s culture whist visiting. See Bedouin tribes and camels in the desert, experience the famous falconry and visit the impressive Sheikh Zayed Mosque and museums in the city.
Activities and entertainment
No matter what your tastes, there’s plenty to keep you occupied in Ras Al Khaimah, that’s for sure. Head into the desert on a 4×4 adventure, try your hand at deep sea fishing, make a splash at the waterpark or feel the adrenalin rush of cycling in the mountains. And that’s only just scratching the surface…
Not only does Ras Al Khaimah offer a wealth of amazing activities to experience, all while basking in its year-round sunshine, but it’s also surrounded by some of the most incredible scenery to explore. Aside from the golden beaches, you have vast desert dunes, lush palm gardens and the spectacular Hajar Mountains.
