From traditional tapas to Italian cuisine, you’ll find plenty of restaurants to please your taste buds whilst in Playa de las Americas, Tenerife. As you walk along the seafront, head past some of the bigger restaurants to find some of these hidden gems. Here are a few places to try whilst on holiday in Playa de las Americas.
1) Meson Las Lanzas – Calle Noelia Afonso Cabrera
If you’re looking to try Canarian cuisine, then this is the place to be. Try the tapas, which includes homemade prawn croquettes and tuna carpaccio. Alternatively, tuck into lightly seasoned sole a la plancha with Canarian potatoes. Or enjoy a T-bone steak with fries, finished off with a homemade dessert and a glass of Rioja, just like the locals.
2) Friends Lounge Bar & Restaurant – Paseo Tarajal
Overlooking Las Vistas promenade, Friends Lounge Bar & Restaurant is the perfect place for dining by the beach. Offering a mix of barbecue and grilled dishes, you’ll find something for the whole family to enjoy. Come for the sunset, then enjoy live music and cocktails ‘til late.
3) Restaurant Pizzaria Pasta and Vino – Paseo Francisco Andrade Fumero
If you love a good pizza, you won’t be disappointed with the selection at this great little restaurant. Watch the chefs as they prepare your dinner in the open kitchen and serve it straight from the stone oven. Pasta dishes and seafood favourites are equally as good, starting from as little as five euros. It’s definitely no surprise that this restaurant is a hit with the locals.
4) Cozy Cafe – Pueblo Canario
Whether you’re craving a homemade cream cake or a hearty English roast, then you’ll feel right at home in this British themed restaurant. Across the road from Casino Playa de las Americas, you’ll find more than beans on toast at Cozy Cafe. Come for the sizzling platter of meats, or the popular Wednesday evening barbecue.
5) First Love – Paseo Tarajal
Intimate and friendly, First Love offers a great selection of authentic Italian dishes from tomato bruschetta to penne arrabiata and spaghetti carbonara. Run by the chef and his wife, this cosy restaurant fills up quickly, so make sure you make a reservation beforehand.
6) La Rana Loca – Calle Valencia
Tucked away at the end of Pueblo Torviscas, you will not be disappointed by this local Spanish spot. Popular for its tapas, the selection varies from red grilled prawns to lightly breaded chicken and croquettes, stuffed with Iberian ham. And to top it off, the drinks menu offers favourites like piña colada, mojito, sangria and many more.
7) Blue Marlin – Av. de España
Directly on the beachfront by Puerto Colon, Blue Marlin is perfect for fresh seafood. Look out to the beach while you tuck into your prawn tapas, or try the popular ‘three kings’ dish with chicken, pork and beef. Stay ‘til late and you’ll be in for a treat with flamenco dancing in the evenings.
8) Montana – Avenida de Rafael Puig Lluvina
From Spanish omelette and paella to chateaubriand steak and grilled seabass, you’ll find something for breakfast, lunch and dinner at Montana. Expect good value for money, and a friendly face on arrival.
