Definately worth a visit!
My boyfriend and I travelled to the Royal Makadi at the beginning of June. The weather was fantastic, but during the middle of the day got very hot! At around 1pm we would have lunch and then go for an hours kip in the lovely cool room!!
The hotel is kept immaculate, with particular attention to the gardens. The hotel staff are very friendly, and will help you with anything. The beach area has plenty of sun loungers, however when the hotel is busy, most of them have gone by 10.30am. The sea is around 22 degrees C, which is lovely after basking in the sun. There are always free sun loungers around the pool area, which is patrolled reguarly by a cleaner who takes away any empty bottles etc from around your beds. The bonus of being by the pool has to be the pool bar which is situated int he middle of the pool, which serves cold soft drinks and beer. Very refreshing! There is also a childrens pool with slides at the top of the resort, which we noticed was very quiet during the day.
The food at this hotel was excellent. I am a fussy eater and even I didnt go hungry! They have large selections of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner in the main buffet. For lunch they serve pizza, burgers, hot dogs and chips at the pool bar. In the evening, the main buffet has a different theme each night, so the food doesnt get as repetitive. The resort also has 4 a la carte resturants, the asian and the mediteranean being by far the best. These form part of the all inclusive, however you do need to book at the main reception a day in advance. We did however get a bit of 'egyptian tummy', but go straight to the doctor and get some tablets, as the ones from home dont work! They only cost 35 egyptian and were worth getting!
The rooms are adequate with a big bathroom and walk in shower, a free safe to use and obviosuly the air conditioning!
The only issue that lets this hotel down is the number of sales people who walk around the beach and pool area all day long, asking everyday if you want to go on one of the excersions. You can ask for a red flag at the towel hut, which is meant to act as a do not disturb sign, however we found that most ignore them! We did go on the 2 hour quad biking trip across the desert which was amazing and good value for £25.00 each. There are many others trips such as parasailing etc, however we didnt bring that much money.
This is the best hotel we have been to in egypt, and would definately reccommend it for a relaxing break away.
Your helpful tips for holidaying here
There is beatiful reef to snorkel on just next door to the hotel, which is part of another hotel. You are allowed to walk through, however dont leave your belongings on the side of the beach or they will take them away... even your flip flops!
