Most of the vast treasures and finds from the site are housed in Iraklion’s Archaeological Museum.

The largest and best beach is to the west and is simply called Sandy Beach. It is wide and equipped with various facilities. The reliable winds make it an excellent spot for windsurfer enthusiasts. Pebble Beach, to the east, is where you will find the harbour and a busy promenade lined with restaurants.

For a lively and energetic evening, visit the many bars and clubs in the party towns of Hersonissos and Malia.

Kalivai

A picturesque village on the sea-front in Crete, Kalivai is typically Cretan. A beautiful mix of bright purple bougainvillea and white washed houses, it is located on the north-west coast of the island. Home to some castle ruins, it has a rich history.
