Summer holidays Kos

Kos is a part of the Dodecanese, a group of Greek islands located just off the Turkish mainland. There are reminders of ancient Greek civilization everywhere on the island. The Asclepion is perhaps the most evocative. But despite its preserved ancient history Kos is also a modern and bustling holiday island. It is relatively small, but still provides a great selection of beaches.

The bay of Tingaki boasts a white sandy beach; Paradise Beach, between Kardamena and Kefalos, is a breathtakingly beautiful, with fine golden sand, lovely shallow waters and a range of water sports.

Kos Town is the capital of Kos - an attractive and lively port, with shady tree-lined avenues and lush green spaces brightened by lilac, jasmine and hibiscus. It's perfect for anyone who likes to sunbathe on the beach by day and at night enjoy the colour and atmosphere of the many bars, restaurants and clubs that nestle round its harbour.

Greek cuisine is fantastic. Elia is a meze restaurant, good for a light snack, a full multicourse meze meal, or more filling traditional oven-cooked dishes. Nikolas o Psaras is a classic ouzeri; a place for an extended session of ouzo- or wine-tasting accompanied by an authentic array of mezedes.

Lampi

Lampi is popular for its soft, golden sands and good conditions for water-sports. The town has a selection of good bars and restaurants, and is within easy reach of Kos Town for those who want to dance all night.
