Summer holidays Crete

A summer holiday to Crete makes for a truly unique experience, with miles of stunning beaches, some of the most amazing ancient sights in the world, together with a wide choice of more modern activities to keep you busy.

The largest and most popular beach in Crete, for a summer holiday, is to the west of the island and is simply called Sandy Beach. It is wide, well equipped for various activities and the reliable winds make it an excellent spot for windsurfing. There is a vast range of water sports activities available across the length of the island’s coastline - along the shore between Platanias and Chania and on Thermis beach.

Once a small fishing village, Hersonissos is now a complex and cosmopolitan resort, with the busy national road running right through the middle. The rocky coastline hides sandy coves big enough to allow sunbathing and a full range of water sports.

In Stalis you will find opportunities for a skyride, paragliding and watersports. You can also explore the world beneath the water’s surface by scuba diving or by taking a trip on a glass-bottom boat tour in Chania or Aghios Nikolaos. Aghios Nikolaos is a great place to take a swim as it boasts 23 blue-flag beaches, which is the most in all of Greece.

Kalivai

A picturesque village on the sea-front in Crete, Kalivai is typically Cretan. A beautiful mix of bright purple bougainvillea and white washed houses, it is located on the north-west coast of the island. Home to some castle ruins, it has a rich history.
