Summer holidays Greece

Few places in the world have an identity as strong as that of Greece. Reminders of its rich and illustrious past are strewn throughout the country, where ancient structures can be found both in the middle of sleepy fields, as well as in the centre of the busiest cities.

The country consists of a large mainland, the peninsula of Peloponnese, and aproximately 3,000 islands, which include Crete, Corfu and Rhodes.

The countryside is remarkably diverse with everything from lush greenery, to mountains, to sun baked rocks and of course, perfect beaches. With more coastline that any other country in Europe, Greece is a beach-lovers paradise, with top destinations such as Zante, with its secluded coves and endless swaths of sugar white sand, and Crete, which is one of the sunniest destinations in the eastern Mediterranean.

Some Greek regions and certain resorts have an untamed party vibe and are ideal for those that are after a lively nightlife while on summer holiday in Greece. In Crete, you can go wild at the many bars and clubs in the party towns of Hersonissos and Malia. If you go to Faliraki, you will find Rhodes’ ‘party resort’. The charm of Corfu, however, lies in the smaller, less developed seaside fishing villages that have just a handful of tavernas.

Where to go

Attica

Attica is bursting with historical sites, geological features, and beautiful pine forests; all less than an hour from the Greek capital city, Athens. No visit is complete without seeing the Acropolis or exploring Plaka, the ‘neighbourhood of the Gods’.

Ayria Trias is located on the sun-soaked shores of Cyprus. A good base for boat trips, you can do some fantastic excursions to see the ghost town of Famagusta and explore the caves of Cape Greco.
