Summer holidays Egypt

Egypt summer holidays offer everything from a fantastic climate, an abundance of ancient sites, to modern resorts with fine sands and crystal clear waters.

The chief resort on the Sinai Peninsula is Sharm el-Sheikh, although the smaller resorts of Dahab, Nuweiba and Taba are also attractive options for the more laid-back holidaymaker. On the mainland coast, the dramatic landscape of Hurghada makes it a popular resort, and Marsa Alam and El Gouna are also popular getaway destinations.

Sharm el-Sheikh is widely considered to be one of the world’s finest diving centres, while Hurghada is well-known for its windsurfing. The resort is actually a collection of areas, including the high-end luxury hotels north of Na’ama Bay, Na’ama Bay itself and the low-key downtown core of Sharm el-Maya.

The town of Hurghada has been transformed from an overlooked fishing village into a booming resort which boasts a population of over 100,000. Nowadays it is home to more than 100 hotels.

El Gouna is located 22 km north of Hurghada on a chain of islands linked by a series of bridges and canals which stretch over 11 km of beachfront. It has a visually stunning location, emphasized by the contrast between the red sand of the desert and the turquoise lagoons.
