The larger islands may mostly be known for attracting tourists that party all night and sunbathe all day, but even if that doesn’t take your fancy, all four islands make a perfect destination for your summer or winter holiday. Plus, each offers a number of options that won’t compromise your options or overstretch your budget.
The south coast of Majorca, around the capital Palma, is where you’ll find the liveliest resorts and some of the island’s best beaches. The beautiful north and west coastlines are wild and rugged, dominated by the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range.
With its azure skies, endless sunshine and beaches of pale golden sand washed by a turquoise sea, Menorca has all the ingredients for a relaxing holiday. Its beaches are some of the finest in Europe, from fun-packed family resorts to hidden pine-fringed coves. Sometimes referred to as the ‘white island’, Ibiza has 50-plus beaches. Even so, it is worth taking the time to explore the coastlines, where you could well discover a remote cove.
Formentera may be the lesser known and least visited of the islands but it is still a fantastic destination with secluded beaches, watersports, nature spots and great local bars and restaurants.
