Clubbing holidays Bodrum

The nightlife in Bodrum is perfect for a clubbing holiday, diverse enough to welcome all and bettered only by the capital, Istanbul.

The action is conveniently centred on a relatively small area, Iskele Meydani, not too far from the walls of the castle. The main street, Dr. Alim Bey street - known also as Bar Street - runs parallel to the sea. An attractive strip, it comes alive every evening as night falls and is ideal for a bar crawl.

Along this stretch you'll find everything from open-air bars, discos and bars with elaborate shows, to simple Turkish drinking dens, to stylish cocktail joints. The road culminates with perhaps the most famous club in the country, the legendary megaclub Halikarnas Disco, which is the biggest open-air party in Europe. With costumed floor-shows, foam parties and terraces for dancing, it promises a night out to remember.

Another good spot is Hadigari. One of the oldest bars of Bodrum, it's set in 32 acres of land with terraces right by the promenade and features stage shows and performances by leading jazz and blues musicians all summer long.

For something different, head into the centre to experience a traditional "meyhane", where Turkish locals enjoy drinks and music. Turkish musicians perform throughout the town, often on terraces overlooking the sea or in the town's square, accompanied by an eye-catching belly dancer or two.
