Family holidays Playa Blanca

A handsome new development at the south of the island, a family holiday to Playa Blanca is the smart choice for those who seek a quieter, more relaxing holiday. On one hand, the youngsters really enjoy playing in the sand and building castles, while on the other this gives the adults time to get a tan and relax, knowing that the children are having fun.

Playa Blanca can offer you all of this in a family holiday, as well as its fantastic Blue Flag beaches. A prime example is Playa Blanca, which is where the town got its name, and is the main beach of the city. The sands of the sheltered town centre bay are golden and the beach is safe for swimming, backed by an attractive promenade. Playa Papagayo is considered among Spain’s best beaches and is located just a short boat ride away, east of town beyond Castillo de las Coloradas.

If you decide to have dinner outside, there is a selection of relaxed cafes and bars serving food all day along the promenade close to the harbour and on the beachside walkway and around the marina. El Almacen de la Sal is a good place for your evening meal. A converted salt store provides a cool stone and timber setting for this restaurant, with the best of fresh fish and meat dishes, including international, Spanish and Canarian specialities.

For souvenirs and perhaps a present for the children, there is an amazing authentic Spanish market each Wednesday and Saturday morning in the old village.
