Dalyan Holidays

Sandwiched between holiday hotspots Marmaris and Fethiye, Dalyan is located on the popular south west coast of Turkey. Refreshingly free from the droves of tourists who visit the neighbouring resorts, it has retained a sense of authentic Turkey.

Picturesque and charming, the town is centred on the Dalyan Cari River. Clear and slow-flowing, it winds through a maze of green rushes and reeds, drifting past the town and between the steep, rugged sides of mountainous valleys. The surrounding cliff faces are home to ancient Lycian tombs that date to 400B.C. Carved into the rock face in a vague grid-like formation, the openings are visible from the river.

The favoured mode of transport in town, regular boats cruise up and down the river, taking visitors to the long stretch of sandy beach or nearby sites. The award-winning beaches of Dalyan are idyllic. Peaceful and tranquil, but equipped with loungers and a handful of beach bars and entertainments, they offer the ideal escape, while the nearby Iztuzu Beach, a beautiful stretch of pristine sand, is a nesting site for the endangered loggerhead turtle. The ruins of ancient trading city Kaunos, featuring an impressive Acropolis, amphitheatre and Roman baths, are also nearby.

While in the older quarters of town, willow trees and gardens shade local tea shops and traditional restaurants, the town is developing rapidly to keep up with its growing popularity. There is a growing range of cosmopolitan entertainment to be found and a wide range of international restaurants.
