Sicily Holidays

Sicily has a rich and unique culture. Experience its wonderful architecture and delicious food on an amazing holiday getaway. Stroll through fragrant landscape of citrus groves, olive trees and vineyards and enjoy views of blue skies and burnt umber fields before relaxing on one of the many idyllic beaches.

The Northern Madonie Mountains are a haven for hikers and nature-lovers. According to legend, it’s here that Hades abducted Persephone into the underworld: the views would certainly please any Greek god. Of course no visit to Sicily would be complete without a trip to a Gelateria. Ricotta and fig, lemon, and jasmine are just some of the many delicious flavours to try.

Palermo, the capital of Sicily was named by the Ancient Greeks as Panormus which appropriately means ‘always fit for landing in’. The island has seen waves of different civilizations ‘land’ and each have left their mark. Nowhere is this more evident, than in the incredible architecture. You’ll find Arab castles turned Norman palaces, baroque cathedrals and glittering mosaics. The Valley of the Temples has inspired poets, writers and painters and is now justifiably a UNESCO world heritage site and a popular attraction for tourists.

The majestic slopes of Mount Etna belie its tempestuous history. The volcano can be seen smouldering above cloud-level, a reminder of nature’s power. A trip to the Alcantara Gorge canyon, which has been formed by the volcano’s lava and waters, will give you a sense of its impressive scale and untamed beauty.
