Lapland Holidays

Lapland is a year-round destination, but it is best known for being a winter wonderland. Of course it’s also famous for being the home of Santa Claus. With a subarctic climate, roaming reindeer, and the northern lights, it’s a fairy tale destination.

Lapland has an intense beauty. In summer the fjords, inland lakes, and trees provide an attractive backdrop to long summer days which can be spent hiking, canoeing or cycling. In the land of the Midnight Sun, brightly coloured flowers lift the landscape, whilst cloudberry swamps provide a bounty of delicious fruits. Blueberries, lingonberries, cranberries and crowberries also grow in the wild. Keen anglers will find plenty of opportunities to make a great catch, whilst nature-lovers need not stray far to find panoramic viewing spots and nature trails.

Being north of the Arctic Circle in winter means short nights and freezing temperatures. It also means spectacularly clear starry nights, endless snow, and the chance to see the Aurora Borealis. Cross-country skiing is a great way to get to know the landscape, but for those feeling less energetic, snowmobiles and dog sleds offer an exciting way to get from a to b.
