Fantastic hotel in Orlando at the Rosen Inn closest to universal.
This was an amazing hotel i have been here twice, it has a swimming pool, arcades, bar, cash machine, shop/deli and restaurant with an added bonus of a Japanese restaurant on site, the staff are wonderful, the maids were perfect my room was cleaned everyday with fresh towels and they supply free soap, shampoo's and moisturiser's, the free coffee, milk and sugar were brought in by the maids daily, the WIFI is super fast and free, there is nothing i could complain about the water park is straight facing the hotel and universal is a ten minute walk or you can use the hotels free transport, the trolley/bus stop is right outside the hotel, shops restaurants and fast food outlets are all within a few minutes walk, it has everything around it, highly recommended for singles, couples, the elderly and family's.

Great Parks Holiday in Florida
This hotel is now called the Rosen Inn and is perfectly placed for a parks holiday. It is only 20 - 25 minutes walk from the Universal Studios parks (about $8 including tip for a taxi) and the I-Ride trolley buses stop right outside. They take you the full length of International Drive for $17 dollars for a 14 day open ticket. With this you can reach SeaWorld, Aquatica and then on to Busch Gardens or Discovery Cove with the complimentary bus. We only had a car for the Disney parks. The rooms are clean with comfortable beds and with coffee making facilities, microwave and fridge. There are towels provided at the pool. The staff were friendly and helpful. We did not eat in the hotel as the Ponderosa across the road was only $3.99 for breakfast, all you can eat. There are also many good restaurants and cafes nearby. The only small complaint is that housekeeping could not seem to remember that there were 3 people in the room and we kept having to ask for more towels. This said, I would recommend this hotel and I would stay there again.

Whilst the flights were on time the seating and food were just about adequate. The hotel was average inasmuch as the facilities were ok but certainly nothing special. We cannot comment on the Thomas Cook reps as we never saw them at all. They ought to have tried, at least once, to make contact but they didn't. This was a 'bottom end' holiday and it was booked through a travel agent who, retrospecively, didn't have a clue what they were talkin about. The 'free' buses to Disney did not exist from our hotel and we were somewhat misled over the hotel location as International Drive is some distance from the Disney resorts.

Amazing time on International Drive
We have been to International Drive twice before and it never fails to give us a fab holiday - sooo much to see and do even before you get to the parks!
We stayed at the Rosen Inn closest to Universal (formerly the Rodeway Inn) and we couldn't fault it. We did have to change rooms mid-way through our stay due to a problem with the security doors but this could have happened anywhere and the staff were all so polite and helpful it was ok. Would recommend this hotel also as the room windows have a view rather than looking out onto the corridor like most hotels on I Drive - great to keep curtains wide open and watch the rollercoasters at Universal! We did not eat in the hotel so cant really comment on the food. There was a fridge, coffee machine and microwave in the room so we mostly had a bagel breakfast in our room to save space for the MASSIVE portions later in the day!
Brilliant holiday, can't wait to save the pennies to go back! x

Silver Wedding Anniversary in Orlando
We were looking forward to our first long haul holiday without any of the kids. The hotel was fairly well priced and we did not expect too much, especially after reading other reviews on the internet.
We were pleasantly surprised with the accomodation, as the hotel had been recently refurbished, room was basic but very clean and had some nice touches, such as a fridge, microwave and free safe. The Hotel was very well placed for access to Universal Studios. There were plenty of local restaurants and shops, without having to drive or use public transport. The pool area was always spotless and staff always seemed to be busy cleaning.
Breakfast, which was served daily by the cheery Joan was very good value and best not to forget to mention Chuck with his helpful advice on tours, local restaurants and money off coupons which we found useful. There are regular coaches which take you to all the parks. City Walk at Universal is great for a bit of adult nightlife.
Hope to go back again in the future, maybe take the kids.

It's the small things that make all the difference
We stayed in The Rosen Inn during the Easter Break. It's very easy find and to get to via the I-4 and International Drive (dead opposite the red lighthouse!) The first night we arrived, the staff were very accommodating and showed us to our room. We were on the top floor and my Daughter thought it was amazing that you could see Hogwarts!. We were nervous as our room backed onto the lift and the constant noise kept my Wife awake most of the night despite already being awake for 22.5hours previously! We decided to see if we could ignore it but that noise was nothing compared to what happened next day. We went for a walk and on our return we were greeted by the most horrendous noise as workmen were renovating the roof directly above our heads so much so we had to shout to each other to be heard. We complained to the front desk and they kindly moved us to a pool side room in the separate annex block which we thought was great with the room being of adequate size and quality. This move came at a cost as the toilets blocked 3 times during our stay and we had to call maintenance to come and fix it. The fridge in our room had not been cleaned at the smell was horrific despite asking for it to be cleaned. The pool stays open until 10pm (well after dark) and the screaming and shouting from the pool can be a problem when trying to get little children to sleep. The room was never shown a hoover but the towels were fresh daily. Breakfast is great value at $7 inc tax & tip and as kids eat free, but it was very strange as when we went for breakfast we were the only tourists there and completely surrounded by the employees. We were told that this is their break time and they are allowed to have breakfast, though we thought they would have a seperate area and not be in the same facilities as the guests. As a budget hotel this is certainly has value but it is the small things that turn an average hotel into a great hotel which this could be should it be able to improve on its cleaning routine within the room.
